Awaken Your Practice Online is here!
Andrea Leda FINAL 024.jpg

When I first created Awaken Your Practice in 2016 I had the idea of helping my fellow heart-centered business owners learn that they did have a place in business. I've run this program four times and have plans to host the live workshop twice in 2019. But to take the program online was a dream I didn't know if I was ready for.

I didn't want to take an experience known for connection, in-depth conversation, and big aha moments and dilute it down to something I attempted to convey over recorded videos and emails. It just isn't me. So, I am doing this in a way that speaks to what I love about this work — the people I get to spend my days with and the things they trust me to witness and support in their businesses.

Yes, Awaken Your Practice Online requires a computer but I will be teaching the weekly classes LIVE.

People find this course for many reasons but of all the ones I hear, what every student tells me is how ready they are to finally trust themselves and be seen in their work. If you're anything like me then you often wonder:

"Can I be my most authentic self, actually help people, and make money?"

The short answer? Yes.
The more honest answer? Only to the extent you know and trust yourself.

I could create a business mentorship that teaches you my back-end systems, how I create my programs, how I find clients and a myriad of other things you think you need. I could also point you in the direction of business coaches doing this because it isn't really what I do.

If you're looking for another "done-for-you" business program then I am probably not your girl. If you're exhausted by this business thing and truly just want to change more lives by being yourself, then keep reading.

I don't do strategy. Period. Because finding the best strategy to grow your business is not the problem. Knowing which one is best for you — now we're getting warmer, but this is still not the full problem.

If you don't know who you are in business, then no matter what ideas you're handed, they get layered on top of a cracked foundation, and no matter how great the idea, it will invariably crumble. I support my business mentees in discovering what works for them after they come heart-to-heart with who that really is.

When you do this, you choose the right ways in business for you and get to cut out so much of the noise swimming around out there. As you've probably already seen, there is a lot!

While most conferences will teach you how to design programs, make more money, use social media, or become a marketing genius at Awaken Your Practice we begin with the most important part of your business — YOU.

At Awaken Your Practice, learn how to trust in your business by believing in and trusting yourself. By re-connecting with your original medicine you can help those who need you in the way only you are built to serve.

How you do business isn't like anybody else.

Your intuition and call to serve make you ripe for success, but most service-practitioners are keeping their biggest treasures hidden — generosity, compassion, positivity, and hope for what's possible on our planet.

If you don't fit into the typical success model, then this is for you. I want you to create a service-business that changes more lives and stays true to you at the same time.

I've opened 30 spots in the online course.

Awaken Your Practice is back
IMG_4508.jpg

This isn't your typical business program and it's not a “done for you” strategy weekend. In my experience, you don’t need more ideas or ways to implement things. You crave clarity, peace of mind, creativity, to play full out, to be seen, and most importantly you crave to share your soul’s calling with the world and be of service.

While most conferences will teach you how to design programs, make more money, use social media, or become a marketing genius, at Awaken Your Practice we begin with the most important part of your business - YOU.

Your intuition and call to serve make you ripe for success, but most empaths are keeping their biggest treasures hidden:

Generosity, compassion, positivity, and hope for what's possible on our planet.

I realized that I could succeed at business but it would require going my own way. It required sharing my voice, using my story to connect, giving, and radical transparency with my clients. The more I showed my empathic gifts IN business the more my business succeeded.

I built Awaken Your Practice for those who are just like me. It's for empath entrepreneurs and business owners who want to work from their heart center and who are ready to uplevel their business, make more money, do work that is fully aligned with their vision, and create balance in their whole life. Oh, and who are ready to invite a little magic in :)

But this isn't my first rodeo.

This is my fourth AYP and I've learned a lot along the way, mostly because of the incredible students who have shown up. In no particular order, here are a few of the radical lessons I've acquired in my time with this program...

1) No idea is "too small"
It doesn't matter if your idea has already been created, will impact a single person, or feels "too small" to you. I assure you, there is no such thing as a small idea. There is also no such thing as a big idea. An idea is an idea is an idea and its power is in letting it move through your life. Let it shape you because while you believe you are shaping it...well, it is the one that is really doing the carving.

2) Value cannot be handed to you
The value you create won't be seen. You can't quantify it or box it up. It isn't the price you charge or subsequently the money you earn. It won't be found in your number of followers or "likes" on any social media platform. So, then, where might you discover your value? Within. It already exists in its full form as YOU. Now, what do you want to create with that value? Well, see number one again.

3) Sensitivity is not the problem
Being an empath is not standing in the way; it IS the way, but it will require that you let go of so much of that noise in the business advice world. You might be more sensitive to how you market, to sales conversations, to how you create and share your creations, and to how you work with and maintain clients. There. Is. Nothing. Wrong. With. You. Place your sensitive nature in the driver's seat and see what magic it leads you toward. For me, this has been the place for heart-driven conversations, really getting to see people, helping people see how much they matter, and more.

4) There's no such thing as the "lone wolf success story"
No one does it alone. Nope. Sorry. It's a big ol' lie. Whether you work with mentors or coaches, join a mastermind, continue with your education, or form a group, I have yet to meet a single person who is doing well in their business who got there without some combination of these examples. And it's the one thing missing from business owners' lives who have been treading water in their work for years on end. I was lucky (and by lucky I mean I had the courage to invest in myself) to work with good mentors in the first 3 years of my business. They got all of my panicked emails and phone calls because I feared I didn't know what I was doing. They also taught me the business basics and held my hand through it all.

5) Comparison is what keeps you small
It isn't competition that will keep your work from being noticed, it's the compulsion to compare that will. It's so easy when we enter any industry to get into an "industry bubble" and suddenly it feels like everybody is doing what we do. I remember when I became a coach and I didn't know many other coaches. Then I started networking with them more, attending coach-only events, going to coach trainings and "suddenly" it felt like the only job anyone had these days was as a coach! Untrue. I had just stepped into the coaching arena and put my coach-blinders on. This is dangerous no matter your industry. Nothing will keep you small as much as comparison to your fellow service-providers.

There are many more where these came from but for today these are top of mind. These are the lessons that I couldn't have anticipated because they unfolded over two years. But they are also the things my students come to AYP to move through and let go of.

In my experience the barriers between you and succeeding in your business are much smaller than you anticipate. But my students are also looking for success in all the wrong places. Online, passive income, funnels, social media fame, followers, bank statements, flashy websites...

Do me a quick favor. Pause reading this and go look in the mirror.

> Who do you see?
> Who is that person?
> Why do they care about their work so much?
> What scares them?
> What inspires them?
> What compels them to not give up?
> What encourages them to keep going, to figure this out?

THERE! There, in that mirror staring back at you, is where your success resides.

Everything else is, well, just the details.

And while they matter a little (yes, you need to know what you sell and who it's for) the trends will evolve faster than you want and all that time you spent figuring out Facebook and click funnels becomes...irrelevant.

But what of your idea? Did it withstand the trends? Did it do its job? Did it honor your value? Did it respect your calling?

These and more are the questions we ask at Awaken Your Practice. We look at the principles of success so that no matter what you layer over it - programs, blog posts, books, e-courses, retreats - is formed on the basis of you at your most self-aware.

You at your most loving.
You at your most trusting.
And you at your most accepting of your gifts and how to share them with the world.

Why I'm NOT raising my rates in 2018...
Andrea Leda_Why Im not raising my rates.jpg

And why I actually LOWERED my coaching rates.

There's a trend in coaching to constantly be raising our rates. When did it become unacceptable to charge less than $100/hour of coaching? Or even $250/hour? Or...even more?

Now, I fell into this and quick. It seemed like every few months within a single year I raised my rates until I finally tipped into the unicorn rate...$500/hour

"Ooooh, I've made it!", I remember thinking.  I was wrong. I hadn't "made it".

Instead, I am sorry to say I lost something very dear to me. I lost my focus on the greater whole.

One of the ways coaches differ from other practitioners (ie. therapists, consultants, etc.) is we're trained to get to the heart of the matter and quickly.

>> Therapists may take months and even years to peel back the layers. It's process driven.

>> Consultants may also take months and even years to implement a system. It's results driven.

>> Coaches take what's in front of them and help their clients use their strengths, their story, and their desires to move forward. This can take months. It can also take days. Sometimes it can take a single conversation.

One of the biggest questions I hear from coaches is - How can I make enough money and not burn out by over-filling my day with coaching conversations? In other words, "I only have so much time!"

One of the ways we bypass exhaustion is to make more money in less time. We default to high prices to re-balance our potential energy drain on our time...(I know because I did this. I got very good at doing this.)

-- BUT --

This shortcut is short-sighted.

At what point are our prices a deterrent to the work we claim to be so dedicated to?

At what point is our inflated belief in our value moving us away from service and not toward it?

Coaching has quickly become an exclusive industry but the reality is, money is an inhibitor even when we wish it weren't. The average annual income in the US in 2016 was $50,756.

I used to believe that it was not my responsibility where my client's found the money to pay for my services. Which in hindsight is a super convenient way to turn a blind eye to a deeper truth.

And while I do love money and love teaching people how to shift their relationship TO money, money is a limited resource for the majority of U.S. citizens.

For the most part, it is none of my business. But it is my business that my clients feel safe and congruent about spending their money with me no matter the amount.

Working with a coach is an investment of our three core resources - time, energy, and money - and each needs to be spent from a place of being OK. No exceptions.

But as our prices rise, our exclusivity rises. As our exclusivity increases, we are no longer building unity. We are now fueling the very thing most coaches and closeted healers claim to not stand for.

This was my final realization --

If my work is not accessible then I am not congruent with my declaration of bringing more harmony to our world.

Inclusive, unified...harmony.

I brought my awareness to a dear friend and fellow master coach, Rachel, who founded the Integrative Wellness Academy. I told her about my revelation but that I also struggle with being too exhausted to take on more clients...so what is the solution?

She gave me a great question --

"How can I have a thriving and successful business while staying true to my purpose of serving others and maintaining accessibility?"

I sat down this month in the wee hours of the morning and had a heart-to-heart with myself. I remembered something a teacher and fellow practitioner shared with me months earlier. She said, "If a therapeutic process is inaccessible to any one person it is ineffective to all people."

This hit me hard then and still does to this day.

See the social worker in me, the one who was trained to advocate for the WHOLE system, still believes in this. If a system that claims to serve humanity is in any shape inaccessible it isn't serving humanity. It isn't a whole system but only part.

And which part of humanity do you serve? I'm sorry to say that when money is our only discernment it's rather obvious who it serves...and it is not the majority.

Why are we so compelled to get more for less? Less time, less effort. And why do I feel like I'm breaking some cardinal rule by not only NOT raising my rates in 2018 but actually lessening them?

My oldest brother is a teacher. He works for an alternative school, a school that opens its doors to kids who don't feel safe, seen, or supported in our public school system. On a recent visit he gave me a tour. I was blown away...

They have classrooms and labs and a library. They have a lunch room and a gym. This isn't what blew me away.

What blew me away is that they also have a room with a shower and a washer and dryer because a fair number of their students are homeless.

And they have a nursery and daycare because a fair number of their students are parents.

Here's why I was so taken back -- we can ignore reality or we can meet it eye-to-eye and heart-to-heart and serve it.

As a coach I've been given full permission by my industry to ignore reality but that isn't good enough.

"Charge your worth!"
"People only show up when risk is alive!"
"People will find the money if they value it enough."
"Your rates should make you uncomfortable!"

These are the most common rebuttal to "worth" I hear from my industry. I've even believed them and said them! Probably right here in this space.

I can't go back but I can be honest in moving forward. We always have a chance to re-evaluate where we are and if our values change, that is ok. Let it be ok.

>> In 2018 I've reduced my 1:1 coaching rates by more than 50%-70%.

Does this mean I'll have to serve more people to make the same income? YES. Think about this...really think about this. When and how did it become a bad thing to serve MORE people?!?! <----Sorry (not really), I am just really passionate about this.

Do I not value myself? Of course I value myself. I value my work and my skillset. I also value my client's livelihood and their financial well-being. I value long-term coaching relationships that unfold over time.

Am I a poor businesswoman? Nope. I love business. I love leveraging my time and systems to keep my income sustainable and my margins healthy. I track my numbers and I track my profit. I also love finding new ways to serve people without maxing out on time like my monthly coaching subscription and weekend-long programs.

Ultimately, here's why I'm getting out of this high-price game...

> I value humanity over a business. If my business acumen ever comes at the cost of my integrity or of serving the whole then I am not successful. Maybe I won't be a 6-figure coach next year and maybe I won't ever amass millions but I can tell you this - I sleep very well and have peace of mind.

> This work has to be accessible. Coaching is a wonderful thing to have in your life. It is supportive, playful, and challenging. It has drive and purpose but it's also a space to be seen and to practice things like vulnerability and self-acceptance. As much as I believe in the power of this work I don't believe it should cost you thousands of dollars or in some coaches case the equivalent to a downpayment on a house to get access to a coach or coaching conversations.

> Money is scary enough as it is. Money is easily in the top 3 topics my clients often focus on in our work together. I am not a financial planner or advisor but I am equipped to support my clients untangle their money stories, fears, and generations of money wounds. Hiring a coach or paying to do this work shouldn't be one more experience that triggers your money stuff. It also shouldn't stretch you or your family to such an extent that it causes additional stress or pain.

> If not now, when? The world feels a little uncertain right now. For many of us, 2017 was a trying and confusing year. Doing deep work like this can help us find our center amidst the uncertainty and keep us focused on how we can help ourselves and one another.

This work is healing, not just for the one doing it but for everyone in your community you effect. In order to help make that happen my doors need to be more open than ever before -- I need to be more accessible than ever before.

If you've wanted to talk to me, hire me, or just connect with me but haven't because the cost was prohibitive, my door is open now.

Why I retired at 32...

I retired on October 22, 2016. I am 32.

I am not super wealthy or exhausted. I am not bored and I still have plenty to give.

But on this particular Saturday, I had the sudden realization that to do my best work, to play, to give and to truly let go of attachment and help others soar I needed to first retire. So I simply made the choice and now my real work can begin.

I was immediately overcome with freedom - no more "have-to's" or "must's". No more chasing business or desperate attempts at being the next "it girl coach". I've retired and have found myself in a deep practice of profound play.

Play is not sitting on the beach or skiing on the weekend. It's dancing with the divine and perfectly orchestrated universe. It's listening to sacred silence and hearing the sound of joy everywhere. It's giving my absolute best and most tapped in self without any limited attachment to outcome. It's choosing complete flow. And it's choosing to serve from a place of complete expression.

No more ladders to climb or popular industry clubs to kiss up to. I've retired. Now my only "job" is to listen to what wants to be created and fall in love with it and give myself totally to that vision. I now co-decide what and when. No more vacations and no more work days. In Divine play, it's all the same. I'm totally free and completely full.

Now before you get confused, I am not done "working." But I am done pushing. If you didn't need the money, need that client, need that person, need...need...need how would and could you approach life differently? Playfully? Freely? Fully? Intuitively?

Life is 100% what you make it be. We live in a culture designed around total comfort. Survival is not really the name of the game anymore. Neither is information or industry. We are living in an unprecedented time where the sole/soul purpose of your wild and precious life is to come home to your True Nature.

To heed your call is your only "job". And you can't do this on Facebook, you won't find it in your Twitter feed, or even on Instagram. You can't "like" your calling or take out an ad for it. You won't find it at that women's networking event or even on stage at the next Tedtalk.

For a moment there I thought I needed to play the game. To work hard. To build more strategy into my work or start FB ads again. Until I went within to a place I have not visited before and FELT so clearly what a huge mistake this would all be! I am not playing this game, it is rigged to keep your head down and your heart closed.

So I retired. And now I am FREE to BE the work. This month we dive into what this means, how you can practice your own version of retirement, and why this is the most exciting time to be alive.

Light and love,

Andrea

How I got to 6 figures (Part Two)
Journal prompt for spiritual leaders

"I am in my own right. I am in my own authority. I am in my perfect divine timing. I am growing and attracting. I am reaching and rooting. I am everything I've asked for. I am clear and focused. I am ready now. And so it is."

I don't remember what inspired me to write these statements or what I was reflecting on when I did but I come back to this because success is born from your beliefs and how much permission you give yourself.

Not enough of us grant ourselves permission to radically succeed. To me, radical success means wealth, ease, reach, service, clarity, peace of mind, and vision.

Earning 6-figures is a result. It's feedback that says, "Hey, you did something that added up to this number." All results are feedback. There are some undeniable themes that led me to 6-figures but of them all there is one I borderline obsess about every day - a relationship with the not knowable, the universe, divine source, or the energy between energy.

Ok -- let me back up to August 2014. I had just left the business I found with my wife and dared to imagine I could embark on a totally new adventure all my own. And I was terrified. I had failed 8 other businesses at this point. Why would this be any different? I had to start this business with $0. And it had to make money or break even. This was the deal I made with myself.

I produced some pretty bad ideas in the beginning. And thank goodness I did because they taught me the most.

--->I learned that selling digital products to a massive market required a ton of energy and money to get in front of people. So this was out.

---> I learned that my list didn't love to buy from me. So creating sales funnels was also a waste of time and energy.

---> I learned that when I got in front of people (speaking, coffee, connection) magic would happen in my business. But I didn't make this connect for almost a year.

---> I learned that if I was working M-F and charging $75 for an individual coaching session I was not even making minimum wage. I made $4,000 my first year in business and $35k the next year before taxes.

---> I learned that I needed to change my approach to this work.

One year ago I stopped looking outside of myself for answers and I stopped listening to "marketing experts", "Facebook gurus", and "High-end coaches" and got very still. I listened to my heart by opening up a dialogue through my journal. Call it a portal, call it a channel, call it woo-woo, I don't care. It didn't bring life to my business - It brought my business TO life.

Privately I was practicing these incredible things like breath work, listening to my intuition, meditation, prayer, paying attention to synchronicity, communion with the unknown, listening to nature, and channeling my guides.

But when it came to my business - it was like I slammed the door and forgot everything I knew. I didn't trust my gut. I didn't ask for support. I looked completely outside myself for my business to succeed and I was failing, quick.

I felt like I was running out of time. Now, in perspective, one year to a profitable business is almost unheard of. I know this. But I made a deal with myself; this business was not to cost me or my partnership anything. And we were bordering on this deadline. I gave myself until the end of 2015 to bring home a paycheck or I was going job hunting.

I threw caution to the wind (it's a real thing) and hired a coach I couldn't afford AND asked him to charge me more money to hold me accountable to a BIG vision. And because I was now borrowing money to keep my business open I stopped paying for all marketing and did something no one was telling me to do - I brought massive amounts of faith and trust into what would unfold next. I surrendered.

And then magic happened. Things that shouldn't be possible, happened.

Nike called.

I got hired to speak.

I intuited an article called, "Roots to Fruits" and filled my consults 3 months out.

I would fill my coaching program in less than 3 months.

I was a keynote for a beautiful event for women.

I started to hear some version of this over and over - "I have no idea how you ended up in my inbox/email/mail because I am not on your list but it feels like divine timing."

Magic.

And the more I trusted and leaned into this faith the more people would show up.

Is this "woo-woo"? No.

We know that the act of how we observe something changes what we observe. Because light, thought, emotion and consciousness are things and they move, act, and honor our intentions we can predict our outcomes by observing our present thoughts, emotions, and expectations. (Translation: what you DECIDE will be and dedicate to both consciously and unconsciously, will be.)

Was I granted success for doing good in the world? No. Absolutely not.

It doesn't work like that. There is no reward because this would assume some moral or ethical righteousness that is better than another. Meaning - who gets to judge what is good and what is bad?

I practice and employ universal laws consistently and have faith that they've already succeeded. And then I act as though I've already succeeded and what I need TO succeed shows up.

Which laws? I thought you'd never ask! (This is my interpretation of each law. There are many out there. Adopt what feels right for you.)

The Law of Reciprocity

What you give you receive. Want to receive more? Give a million times more.

The Law of Divine Compensation

You will be rewarded most when you heed the call of your heart and answer your calling. To earn money from something that feels degrading to your soul, will be.

The Law of Light and Shadow

The world is your mirror. There is nothing in your field of awareness that is not also inside of you. Lean into your fears for they are your gateway to freedom.

The Law of Intention

What you intend and commit to both consciously, unconsciously and in your highest plane of existence will be. But you have to be patient. For the time is not instantaneous even if thought is.

The Law of Dharma

You have a calling. You have a pilgrimage of the soul. It's in your bones. And when it knocks on your door, answer.

When I paired this practice with everything I've dedicated my time to (see last week's article) it adds up to what I would call success. Financially, yes. But also joyfully. I am very happy to be living in a way that shines more light on my path, my calling, and my purpose.

No money can quantify the power of fulfillment.

I want this for you. If you want this too,

Awaken Your Practice is just around the corner. Just sayin ;)

How I got to 6 figures (The article I swore I would never write)
How I got to 6 figures

This is how I got to 6 figures. I will do my best to outline as much as I can below. I will leave things out. Not on purpose but because when you show up every day and work on your success you forget everything you've done. These are what stick out most to me. Some of you will read this and LOVE what I have to say. Some will never come back because of the title alone.

This is dedicated to those who stay.

I am a spiritual coach who works with business owners, entrepreneurs, innovators and thought leaders. I teach radical success through a spiritual lens. Spiritual is, for me, connecting to my higher purpose, understanding the bigger picture, doing the inner work, and seeing things in their right place.

I don't focus on results because they are results. There is a chain of events that lead to results. I believe if you go to the source of success you get the result you want every time. This is why I don't do strategy. It doesn't work if it's where you begin. And I begin with who you ARE. Your BEing. Your beliefs and your soul.

In total transparency - this is not a lead into a program or a sales funnel. I just want you to have this information. Eleven years ago when I started my first business I would have given anything to be taught these principles. But let me be clear about something -- You can't pay me to help you make 6-figures because it's short sighted.

What is the purpose of making money?

Where does it fit into your life?

How much do you need?

Have you ever asked yourself these questions?

Making 6 figures isn't the real goal. At least it isn't for me. The real goal is a healthy and sustainable business. The real goal is knowing my work works and I am doing it in an honest, ethical way. The real goal is raising my potential, supporting my family, and respecting my values.

There are SO many coaches out there teaching 6-figure systems. I know some of them personally. There are a bazillion e-books, blog posts, seminars, podcasts, coaching programs, etc. teaching you HOW to make 6-figures. If you merely want the money for money's sake then this post is not for you.

Take these lessons I am about to outline to your business or your life and do whatever it takes to integrate the ones that feel right for you.

Ok -- here we go.

In 2014 I made $4,000 in my business.

In 2015 I made $35,000.

In 2016 I made $175,000.

In 2017 I made $240,000.

>> How did this happen?

How I got here. These are in no particular order. And there's more where these came from. But these are ALL things I had to work very intently to be OK doing on a daily basis.

It didn't take me one year to go from $35k to $175k - it took me SIX years. Yes, there's technically only one year between 2015 and 2016 but it required everything I did in the past 6 years to make this leap possible.

I mastered my craft. While people were studying SEO, social media tactics, sales funnels, etc. I had my nose in the "coaching/neuroscience/psychology/business/money/spirituality books, seminars, certifications, programs, and mentorships. I mastered what it means to be a great coach.

I hired a coach and stretched myself. I paid a coach $1,500/month for a year before I charged $1,500/month for a year. I took the risk, first. And while I would go on to reduce my rates, I wanted true empathy with my clients and the money I was asking them to invest to work with me.

I learned everything I could about money. All of it. I mean all of it. And that awesome Tony Robbin's book about Money that weighs 10lbs. and is 700 pages? Read it. LOVED it. I took money seminars, went to money classes, read 50+ money books, and dealt with allllllll my money baggage. And I do mean all. It is an ongoing practice and I still run into my money stuff.

I treat my business like a business. I have a biz bank account, a biz license, disability insurance, and pay myself actual paychecks. I don't buy my groceries with my business bank account and I pay taxes. I am a legit business.

I set goals beyond what I thought was possible. I didn't set out to be a 6 figure coach, I set out to be a 7 figure company because it got me to think creatively and get outside my comfort zone.

I quit paying for marketing and advertising. I started to MEET people. Like, talk to real people. I had over 90 in-person conversations in 90 days in 2016. I filled my week with as many conversations as I could. I didn't ask a single one of them to be a client because that wasn't the point. I merely showed up and had great convos with people.

I had a TON of coaching conversations. Instead of being busy trying to FB market sales funnels for an email I actively booked coaching conversations. Over 1,000 of them.

I wasn't afraid to give my absolute best service away, for free. Of those 1,000 coaching convos I had 180 this year alone, and they were 2-hours each. These calls changed my life and my business.

I modeled successful 'models of the world' that I appreciated. If they wore a watch, so did I. If they read so-and-so book, so did I. If they meditated, so did I. If they drank kale smoothies in the morning, I tried. ;)

The list continues...

I grew my team. I stopped DIYing everything.

I tapped into a mission I can't possibly accomplish and it will drive me for life.

I fell in love with this awesome and very handy resource called money.

I put blinders up to "competition".

I invested more than $30,000 in continued education.

I practiced hearing the word no by getting over 150 of them this year alone.

I asked for criticism and honest feedback.

I did a s*#t ton of inner work.

I quit quitting when it got hard.

I gave away more than I expected to be paid for.

I read over 300 books in the last 4 years alone.

I took total responsibility for my lack of success in the past.

I started a morning routine that I am dedicated to no matter the day of the week.

I cleaned up my diet. And I healed my body.

I worked less but did more that mattered.

I cut out more than 25 hours of TV per week.

I only started enrolling 10/10 clients and risked leaving money on the table.

I filled my office with affirming messages.

I cleared out toxic relationships.

I created a compelling future I can't stop thinking about.

I realized I LOVE people.

I created a life philosophy.

I deleted social media and email from my phone and check FB 5 minutes per week.

Someone ask me recently, "If yo had to go back and do it all over again where would you begin?" I would begin with my inner world and I would begin with a deep excavation of my money beliefs. Which is why I created a journal workbook to help you do this too.

>> Download my FREE Money Workbook below and start to work with your money beliefs. <<

This work is a practice. I keep examining my life - my dreams, my fears, my triggers, what I am grateful for, what I want, who I want to be, and what I want to create. Without this, none of the above is possible.

I should be exhausted just reading this list but this is the true cost of a 6-figure business. You can't just sponsor a post and count your followers. I had to actively cultivate a business that was worth investing IN. I am not exhausted. I am happy. Beyond measure. Not because of the money. I am grateful for the money.

I am happy with the service I get to give because I don't have to worry about money. What would this be worth to you?

Money is a Godsend (literally!)
get uncomfortable
get uncomfortable

Please know, I am very uncomfortable right now. My heart is pounding and my palms are actually a little sweaty. But this article is part of my truth. This is how I live my life. This is how I view, work with, receive, spend, and handle money. It's why I don't go without and it's why I have more than enough. (Ah, I can't believe I am saying this! What will you think? Am I being an a** hole? Have you already left? Keep going....) I feel compelled to write this because if I look at the coaching conversations I've had in the past 6 months alone, 100% of the people who showed up wanted more money or a healthier relationship with money. 100%. So naturally I think we have to talk about this.

First, a short story. I was driving home last night thinking about this article and what I was about to commit to this space. I passed a busy corner and saw a man on the corner with a sign that read, 'Need $18 for a room tonight' and at the front of the line of cars directly in front of him was another man in a red Jaguar and he was not looking at the man on the corner.

And immediately my judgment set in.  Why won't the man in the car look at him? Oh, is he too good? It's only $18! What a wealthy jerk...see money is evil and doesn't help...and on the judgment went.

Then I laughed out loud and thought - Oh. This is part of our dilemma.

The only information I had was two men. One on a corner with a sign. One in a car at a stoplight. That's it! And my conditioning filled in the rest.

Our conditioning 'conveniently' (insert me doing air quotes here) fills in the rest.

What else is possible? What if the man in the car were homeless once? What if he actually has zero money and is in debt from this car? What if the man on the corner is a millionaire? What if the man on the corner was once wealthy and spent it all and lost everything? What if the man in the car didn't see the man on the corner? What if the man on the corner has a hobby of standing on corners?

What if we stop the assumptions and stories?

If I believe we live in a black and white world where plus one equals minus another... OR If I think more of one thing means less of another then when I see stuff like this I have to assume the worst to save my identity.

But what if none of this is true? What if money is a Godsend.? What if abundance applies to ALL things?

The things I am terrified to say (but I do believe) are as follows...

99% vs. the 1% is not a solution to money "problems". Poverty is not humility. Don't confuse poverty with non-attachment. You're not poor because someone else is wealthy. You're not so powerful that 'taking' what you want leaves someone else 'without' that thing you took.

I've been poor. I've lived on less than $900/month (Yes, I know in some places this is a LOT of money and in the U.S. it's barely enough...) and now I make more than I need. The difference is this, and this is something I see far too often...

When you're poor you think it's 100% not your responsibility or doing. When you're wealthy you take 100% responsibility for your wealth.

I am actually not going to dive in too deeply here, but these are a few of my thoughts. They aren't solutions, they are statements. Scroll further for my solutions or at least my spark for a new conversation.

How I got over my money fears and am still terrified to say (but I do believe with every fiber of my being) are as follows...

I got rid of the 'me vs. them' story and replaced it with a 'If I am poor, it's my own doing, and if I am wealthy it is ALSO my own doing' story.

I believe that money is a Godsend for good.

I stopped judging people for having money AND people for not.

I let go of any attachment to money as a symbol of my worth or my value.

I know that God is a yacht just as much as God is a homeless shelter. When you can wrap your head around this you'll find freedom.

Sometimes, it is about the money. Because as a human being on planet earth, money is part of the deal. I can't invest for my future, give, buy gifts, or even put gas in my car without money. So why are we so afraid of asking for it?!

And my personal favorite - I replaced 'it's spiritual to be poor' with 'Money and God are one in the same.'

Why would something that can buy food, build shelters, print books, create technology, and connect billions of people be evil?

Wouldn't it be a better fit to pre-suppose money is a gift? That money is a given? And if so I promise money was never the problem, but your beliefs about money can be a problem.

Do you enjoy being broke? I certainly did not. It was stressful, I was always anxious, I would check my bank account constantly, and have to quickly add up my grocery costs while in line, to make sure I had enough money to eat some days. And if you looked under the surface you would have found money beliefs that created my poor situation.

And now? Thanks to education, asking scary questions and flat out questioning what I saw I began practicing a new set of prosperity beliefs.

Here are a handful of powerful beliefs and practices I employ every day to receive more than I need.

  • I have plenty because I earn plenty, but more importantly I SAVE plenty, and live on LESS than I need.
  • The more money I have the more I get to be, do, and have. The more influence I have.
  • If I need money all I do is ask and trust it's on its way.
  • I don't need money to feel secure, I need money to physically survive. Security is inherent in my being, money just makes things a little easier.
  • Someone's billions doesn't mean there's less to go around, it means someone has billions. I can too. So can you.

Now you don't have to agree with a single thing I say. Really. You can throw this away and say I am totally nuts. It doesn't actually effect me. (And here comes the thing I am REALLY scared to say...)Those of you who do want to throw this away I can almost guarantee are struggling in some way with money. So I invite you to let this in, just a little. Stop defending what keeps you poor. Stop hating proof that money is abundant and available.

What money story would you rather tell?

In light and love, Andrea

Dear Purpose Driven Beings,
Purpose Driven Beings
Purpose Driven Beings

I’ve written this post three times and deleted it three times. I want to get this one just ‘right’. You know when you have something you really believe in and want to make sure you convey it with the right conviction and passion that people will hear you? This is like that.

Then I woke up early this morning and was sitting with my journal, listening to the birdsong outside my window and thought, "You know, a bird doesn't question her song, she just sings. How can more of us just sing?"

And I knew exactly what I wanted to write today. This is for my fellow purpose-driven beings.

Do we all have a purpose? Yes. Do we all want to act it out? No. But oh how I wish you would. So today's article is for those of you who do want to act on their purpose...but are terribly afraid.

You know who you are.

You can feel it brewing beneath the surface. Maybe you've had some experience of your purpose already or have seen it play out a little in your life. Maybe you're totally aligned with your purpose or are evolving it as we speak. No matter where you are with it, you have this unwavering feeling in you that you just can't shake and I urge you not to.

I'll be totally honest - I need to read this article today so I decided to write it.

My work has grown exponentially this year. Not just physically with clients and students but also in what I do, how I serve, what I write about, and what I dream about. <--- this is the one that really gets me.

What I dream about.

This is what I dream about... That all of my fellow purpose-driven, soulpreneur, passionate, aligned, open-hearted, conscious peeps would do two powerful things:

1) Get out of their own way 2) Play BIG

And yes, in this order. First, let's address getting out of your own way.

And because there is no quote that sums this up as well as this I give you Marianne Williamson -

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Read this. And then read it again. And again. Pause on this - "It is our light, not our darkness that most frighten's us..."

Fear. Most of us equate purpose with fear.

What if I fail miserably at this? What if I can't see all the parts, where do I even begin? What if no one thinks my purpose is worthy or valuable? Who am I to pursue my purpose?

Sound familiar? This was my narrative too before I turned toward my purpose.

We ALL have a purpose or a calling. Think of it as this truth embedded in the DNA of your soul. When it gets turned on you’re called to something in your life that, if followed, will lead you to the highest version you can live of your life.

This purpose can be many things. Here are a few examples:

  • More purposeful work
  • To become a parent
  • To move or travel
  • To start a non-profit
  • To write
  • To paint
  • To play music
  • To climb a mountain
  • To find God
  • To adopt
  • To forgive
  • And the list goes on…

Your purpose is already there – are you listening for it?

It’s an unspoken thing you can feel in your gut. It’s a sense that you’re missing out on something big in your life. Oh, and it probably sounds terrifying to pursue. Clients often say to me, “How do I know what my purpose is?” And I always answer with this, “I know you know what it is. The better question is, what are you afraid of by turning toward it?

It isn’t likely that you just don’t know. You know. It’s the idea of actually doing something about your calling that is very scary. Of course it’s scary! Answering your call means…

  • Moving WAY out of your comfort zone
  • Accepting that your calling won’t fit into your life as it is now
  • Challenging what you believe to be absolutely true about who you are

It’s no wonder answering your call requires bravery!

Today I want to share a few stories of this kind of bravery. The kind of bravery playing big beckons from us. My hope is that these stories will act as little nudges to help you turn toward and even answer your purpose. One is about someone I haven’t actually met but admire her conviction. One is about a client who’s given me permission to share his story. And one is about me and what happened when I answered my calling.

“MAYBE THERE’S A WAY OUT OF THE CAGE WHERE YOU LIVE MAYBE ONE OF THESE DAYS YOU CAN LET THE LIGHT IN SHOW ME HOW BIG YOUR BRAVE IS

AND LET THE WORDS FALL OUT SAY WHAT YOU WANNA SAYHONESTLY I WANNA SEE YOU BE BRAVE WITH WHAT YOU WANT TO SAY AND LET THE WORDS FALL OUT HONESTLY I WANNA SEE YOU BE BRAVE”-SARA BAREILLES

There is a woman who answered her calling and it put her on a quest that challenged her entire life. Her name is Elizabeth Gilbert. You may know her from her book, Eat Pray Love or Big Magic. You might have a very strong opinion about her journey, her book, or her message. No matter your thoughts put them down for a moment and let’s look at the bones of what she did.

She felt something deep within her life that just wasn’t right. She hand picked her entire life, she was present for every decision. Her work, her marriage, and her dreams. Yet one night, walking around her home in the dark, she just knew it was all wrong. She didn’t know what was right just yet.

It’s easier to feel what’s out of place because we haven’t made space yet for what fits better.

Then she did something even she couldn’t believe – she turned toward her calling and let it fill in the blanks. Although terrified, she left her marriage, left her home, and left her life as she knew it to embark on a year-long journey around the world. And she found the life that was perfectly designed for her already

THERE ARE ALWAYS REASONS TO DENY YOUR CALL. LEARN WHAT’S CALLING YOU, LEAVE THE REST TO THE UNIVERSE.

There is a man who is answering his calling one day at a time and he’s finding each day to fit just a little more perfectly. This is the story of a client of mine. I’ll call him John. When John first came to work with me he was in over his head. He had embarked on a business that felt right at the time but slowly it stopped fitting who he was. He wanted so badly to take care of everyone in his life that he never turned toward himself and asked what it was he really wanted.

Until it started to make him feel lost, sad, and sick. Answering your calling will feel oddly effortless.

John slowly started to peel back the layers of his ideal life and where he wasn’t living in alignment with his vision. It turned out what he really wants is to be motivational speaker and a healer. Opportunities were already knocking on his door (yes, this does actually happen) and he was turning them down out of fear that it would rock his current life too much.

Answering your calling will pull you in a direction you are not already headed. In other words – it will ask you to change directions. And fast.

The tipping point is when not answering your calling is more painful than just doing it. John let go of who he thought he was so that who he is could show him the way. In the end, it wasn’t as scary as he anticipated. In fact, it’s the easiest path he’s ever navigated.

“WE MUST BE WILLING TO LET GO OF THE LIFE WE PLANNED SO AS TO HAVE THE LIFE THAT IS WAITING FOR US.” – JOSEPH CAMPBELL

This last story is about a woman who didn’t know she had a calling until it knocked her sideways. This is my story. I’ve shared bits and pieces here and here. Today I’ll give you a short summary that has taken me more than two years to comprehend. Sometimes you have to go with the flow, ask questions later. I had two wake-up calls 6 months apart to the day. The first, a spiritual breakdown, and the second, a life breakthrough. The thing is, I was pretty content before my calling came knocking on my door.

My life was good. Good job, good friends, good relationship. All things happy in their place. Sure I had questions and quiet wonderings about what life was really about. Was there a purpose I wasn’t fulfilling? Why am I here? What is the point?

Until you answer your calling these questions are crazy making. After you answer your calling these questions are irrelevant.

I’ve always known I was intuitive and had a natural gift for hearing and serving people. When I see people hurting I can’t help but go to them. Then on January 8th, 2014 it all came full circle when God tapped me on the back. Growing up atheist this was a bit…alarming. It sent me into a spiral of questions, books, mentors, guides, and late night journal writing. Turning toward your calling will have you questioning so much. Let the questions come – just don’t get hung up on the answers.

This wake-up call set me up for my second calling when I realized I wasn’t working on purpose. After God said hello I knew I was meant to help others lean into their higher selves, reconnect with their soul, and let go of their fears.

Answering your calling brings a sharp amount of clarity we can spend our whole lives searching for. Just like that…there it is.

It would be another 1 1/2 years before I was ready to really own this. Well, I’m still working on it. Each day I ease a little more into my calling. It’s still scary. Here’s the thing about self-enlightenment – once you see and feel the light, going back into the dark feels like dying. Even when scared, uncertain, or lost I keep going because life makes perfect sense to me now.

SO YES, I WANT YOU TO BE BRAVE.

There is no greater purpose for you than to answer your calling. That silent tug on your heart? Tune into it. Listen to what it has for you. Ask what it knows.

No one knows how it will turn out. You can't know. So put the desire to have all the answers up front aside for a moment and ask yourself the following -

What do I WANT? For what PURPOSE? WHO do I need to BE? What is the ESSENCE of my purpose? (aka how could it make me FEEL?)

This is your business because no matter what purpose you're driven to create in the world or your world - it starts with you. Your heart. Your soul. What makes you come alive. The only how you need to worry about is how you CHOOSE to play big.

Don’t follow the easier path because you don’t know how to play big.Play big and watch yourself growth into the person you need to be TO play that big.

I promise you this – your purpose will not find the fullest expression it possibly can from a place of fear, lack, or scarcity. It can’t exist as its fully expanded self from your lower self.

Only your higher self can actualize your purpose. And your higher self deals in love.

Don’t pursue your purpose from the step you’re on today Purse it from where in your heart you believe you can go. I dare you to get big, be bold, grow, be a visionary, and love your life and work to the degree that it is the perfect expression of what it was always meant to be. And then…get out of the way.

In light and love, Andrea

Leap and wings appear
2016-04-25_1461605903
2016-04-25_1461605903

I used to think taking a leap of faith was a myth. You know, a nice idea that sounds good when you use it to motivate someone. But when I look back on my life I find that leaps of faith have almost always brought me my very favorite things. Asking my now wife (Eee!) out on a date and now, 7 years later, being more in love than I've ever been.

Leaving a comfy job position to open my coaching practice totally by myself and falling so in love with work its kind of ridiculous.

Investing a lot (like, a lot) of money last summer in a 2-week training that radically changed my life.

With no money, no job, and only knowing one person I moved to Portland almost 8 years ago and found my joy.

What leaps of faith have actually been your most favorite adventures? In the moment right before you leap it's terrifying and the mind starts asking all kinds of tricky questions -what if you fail? How much will this cost me? What if it totally sucks? What if they say no? What if I can't recover? What if I am wrong? I think you get the idea.

"Oh, but what if you fly?", whispers your heart.

My current leap of faith is launching, writing, fulfilling a weekend I am in the middle of creating, Awaken Your Practice. Now it's not for everyone because some of you reading this are not interested in carving a business out of your purpose. But for this who are - read on.

Here is an excerpt from Awaken Your Practice - In a way, I think we always know our calling. We may not be able to spell it out at first or point to it but we can feel it. Even as a little girl I know I would grow up and help people in some capacity. I fought it for, oh, 18 years but alas I finally saw the light and realized my purpose had been following me all along.

Chances are if you’re a soulpreneur you are attempting to merge your purpose with business. It is both a huge blessing and a burden. It’s a blessing because to get up every day and spend your time in service of your calling is a rare and special gift. It’s a burden because…it’s really hard to ‘sell’ the thing you hold most sacred.

I can promise you this – building a business from the soul doesn’t make it any less sacred. In some ways, it makes it more sacred because you are daring to serve humanity in some way and it doesn’t get more sacred than this.

If you feel this thing brewing in your heart and soul is what you’re meant to do then make a dedication to yourself right here and now to stop at nothing to make it happen.

Your soul’s path is yours and yours alone. You have to feel your way through it. So feel away! But do not fall away when it gets tough – as I can promise you it will.

When things are tough it doesn’t mean you’re on the wrong track. Quite the opposite, actually. It means you have some growing to do in order to fully step into who you need to be to fulfill your purpose.

Write a dedication to your soul, your heart, and your work…Have conviction!

Keep this. Write it on your vision board. Revisit it often – because this is your personal declaration to walk this path.

Light and love, Andrea

Love + Money
Love + Money
Love + Money

Love + Money - can they co-exist? I want to explore this with you today. I've had the pleasure of having over 30 consult conversations in the past two months. Before I have these calls I send a short questionnaire so I know exactly what we're tackling together. One of the questions I ask is this - What top 5 Characteristics/Things do you value most in life? Without realizing it, this question turned into some great research. Because, and to my surprise, most everyone answers this with almost the same characteristics. The Top 3 I receive back are:

1 - Love 2 - Freedom 3 - Integrity

Here's the thing - one of the struggles my clients have in common is not receiving enough money or abundance. Whether this is in their business or their life. Money seems to be...elusive.

Which brings me to this question - Can we have love, freedom, integrity, AND money? And a better question still - why don't more of us?

The purpose of today's article is to offer a bit of a paradigm shift, if you will, about where money really lives and why you have it or you don't. And if you want it, here are my soulful interpretations of how to receive it while honoring your values of love, freedom, and integrity.

I feel the need to be a bit blunt in this because I wish someone had been this honest with me when I was struggling with money.

It took me over 4 years, hundreds of books, a 3-day intensive training, and a breakthrough session all around money to fundamentally accept this idea -

Money is an extension of my highest good and a simple measure of my ability to affect positive change in the world.

Receiving money for anything BUT doing work that came from my highest good (ie. love and integrity) was actually devaluing me and the people I was trying to serve.

Another way to say it is this - it's not love OR money, it's love AND money.

The most common reflections I hear about money are these:

"I can't have money and freedom." "I can't be spiritual and wealthy." "I don't want to receive too much." "Money causes pain." "If I have money I perpetuate poverty."

How you feel about money becomes the kind of money you receive. Let me say this again - How you feel about money becomes the kind of money you receive.

If you feel guilty about money - you get guilty money. If you feel evil having money - you get evil money. If you feel entitled having money - you get entitled money. If you feel separate from God receiving money - then you receive money separate from God.

Here's an alternative - and I have a journal prompt at the end that I want you to try this week around this.

If you feel joy about money - you get joyful money. If you feel gratitude for money - you get grateful money. If you feel blessed to receive money - you receive blessed money. If you feel free when you have money - you receive freeing money.

I think you see where I'm headed here. Money has no power outside of YOU.

Being a neutral entity, money is at the whim of YOU.

And if we are source energy incarnate...and if we make money....then doesn't source through us also make or create money? And if so...doesn't receiving abundance honor THE most creative source? And wouldn't denying money deny that same source?

Just a thought :)

Light and love, Andrea

How to win the lottery. A spiritual approach.
2015-12-30_1451491181

Did I just say, '...a spiritual approach' in my headline? Yes, yes I did. And today I'm going to let you into a part of my work I rarely speak on...the spirituality of money and why I think the current Powerball stakes are a beautiful example of this - also...how to win the lottery.

I already had the intention to write about the lottery when my dear friend, and founder of New 72 Media, Kelli Lair posted this...

"Join me in prayer and intention to surround all of the energies that are going into this Powerball:

May those who win be divinely guided to make a profound impact in this world. May they be a shepherd to provide food for those that have none, a roof over those that are touched by rain, and aid in finding "home" for those that are displaced. May all contributions to philanthropic organizations be made, with the due diligence done along side to be certain those selected stand in truth and integrity for what it is the claim to do. May their efforts soften the hearts of others so that greed no longer exists and is replaced by compassion. May their actions be the catalyst for a deeper understanding that we are all ONE and worthy of unconditional love and acceptance just as we are And so it is..."

What would you do if you won? Would could you do? You would be ranked, overnight, within the top 300 wealthiest people in the world. You would have more income to your name than 7 billion people.

Would you move to a beach? Would you buy the beach? Perhaps you'd donate a large sum or create a foundation. Here's the thing - I actually want you to win. Here's why:

Now this is biased. This is extremely biased and it is always assuming there is a 'better' option to how you utilize the money. But I see a blessing and I see how powerfully it could change the world.

How you could change the world. But first, you have to love money.

Did that cause some knots in your gut? It's ok. It's taken me years of work to accept financial worth for my work. Or receive abundance for what feels like a natural gift. And it's a daily practice of open receiving.

However, money is neutral energy. It is at the whim of you and your intentions. It bears the weight of your feelings toward it and is, like all energy, malleable to your choices and beliefs.

Here is what I believe about money...

  • It is the most easily accepted tool to propel change and healing in the world today.
  • It flows easily and freely
  • It is my measurement for service
  • It has no weight on my inherent value or worthiness
  • It can do good.
  • It is an expression of my highest good reaching more people
  • It isn't real.

Read that last point again. It isn't real. But we treat it with life and death. We condemn people who have 'too much' of it. We condemn ourselves for barely surviving because we lack it.

So where do you draw the line? What is enough and what is too much?

What do we hope to gain by having it? What are we afraid we'll lose because of it? How do we allow it to define us? Does it define us?

Again...it isn't real. And yet it is the realest thing we vie for every day.

Now I can't say 'we' and assume 100% of the people on the planet today ask these questions.

There are still societies that don't use or have a word for money. There are people who have renounced all worldly possessions, money being one of them. There are people who have tons of money and are happily giving it all away.

And...

There are people who have spent their life's savings in search of joy. There are people who are in insurmountable debt. There are people who have to choose between feeding their children and paying rent.

So we can't sit back and say money has no bearing on life on Earth. I assure you, it does. And we can't sit back and say it will end hunger and heal the sick because it isn't.

As I pointed out to my father recently in a heated (a.k.a. passionate) discussion about the fate of the world -  He asked, 'How come if we can feed all the people on the planet today, we don't?'

To which I replied, "Because we don't have a resource problem or a technology problem. We have a heart problem."

There is more money on the planet today than any time in the history of the world. Trillions, actually. But there are people starving. There are people killing people. There are forests being cut down. There are animals becoming extinct.

Why? Because money isn't real. Money can't do anything without intention.

You + Money + Service + Detachment = Change.

Even the Dalai Lama receives millions every year through donation and contribution funding his ability to travel and teach with ease.

Why can't we just trade on energy, joy, and love?

Because...we live in a physical dimension. Otherwise, we'd all just be non-local consciousness. We wouldn't even be floating around because 'floating around' would assume we were inside of something which assumes space and time exist. We would just be impressions of energy without form.

But we do live in a physical dimension. You can think thoughts. You can smell flowers. You can feel water. You can eat chocolate. You can feel joy and pain. You have bones that can break and tears that you cry. And you can receive and give money.

My point is this - money is part of our tangible place. And it is exactly what you make of it.

What if you allowed money in? See a penny on the ground? Free money! What if you gave money with joy? What if you spent money with joy? What if you owned the power that can come from this resource? What if you let it be good?

As promised, here is my spiritual approach to winning the lottery. Now this is a bit unorthodox. And it won't work for everyone because it is incredibly difficult to practice.

  1. Believe money can come to you easily and freely.
  2. Believe you deserve it.
  3. Wish with total love that ALL people deserve to win the lottery. Assume we all won and feel the resonance of total love in that moment.
  4. Let go of any feeling of resistance to money in all forms. *See note about resistance below.
  5. Repeat. (Oh, and buy a lottery ticket!)

A note about resistance: resistance is a feeling of stuckness or disagreeances in your being and body. I want you to think about money. All the times you were broke, all the times you felt ok and had plenty. And everything in between. Feel those sensations arise? This is resistance. Now think about something you are 100% neutral on like a blade of green grass. See the vibrancy of the grass and how it sways in the wind. No resistance, right? Be in this state while thinking about money.

*These are 100% my personal beliefs. If you don't win the lottery with this practice I can not be held responsible :)

Roots to Fruits - Part Two
2015-11-26_1448556263.jpg

I am SO grateful that my last article resonated with so many of you. I ended up giving an entire talk on Roots to Fruits to a women's conscious entrepreneur group a few days later and as I started to explain how our roots become our fruits I saw eyes getting wider as the idea landed for them. Today I want to go down into your Roots with you and look at what they're made up of. I updated the image and added a few more things!

Your Roots are made up of:

  • Stories
  • Negative Emotions
  • Beliefs
  • Habits
  • Purpose
  • Fear
  • Peace
  • Worthiness
  • Trauma
  • And more....
FRUITS-AND-ROOTS-pt.-2.jpg

I could spend an entire article on each root. So instead, I have been reflecting on which root is the most potent? Which one when changed, has the biggest ripple effect on the rest? I think it's our BELIEFS.I am not talking about what you believe in. I am referring to what you believe to be true about yourself AND the world. I love this definition of a belief from the book, 'Creating Money':

"Beliefs are an assumption about the nature of reality."

I just think that nails it! Your beliefs are those bold absolute statements you have created to make sense of your life and the world. We are meaning making machines - this means we need to make sense of things. All things.

We ask questions like...

'Why do I get hurt?' 'Why am I broke?' 'Why can't I get healthy?' 'Do I deserve this love?' 'Am I the kind of person who succeeds?' 'Why do I always fail?'

And on the list goes.

See what happens is we have these strings of memories we've attached emotion and meaning to. Then we interpret them as truth. This becomes our own individual reality. No two people see the world the same way.

So when we go to make sense of something or to answer one of these big questions above, we have to pull from our beliefs. From our assumptions about the world. Our beliefs are made up of our memories or our stories that we have strong emotions about.

Here's a sampling of how we answer these questions with a negative belief/assumption:

'Why do I get hurt?' ---> I am weak 'Why am I broke?' ---> I am bad with money 'Why can't I get healthy?' ---> I was born this way 'Do I deserve love?' ---> I am not good enough 'Am I the kind of person who succeeds?' ---> I never follow-through 'Why do I always fail?' ---> I am not worth it.

How do these turn into fruits? Because - remember, what you plant you reap. If you plant a belief that, 'I am not good enough' you will SEE the world THROUGH this belief. It's like wearing a pair of glasses. But instead of glass, the lenses are made up of your beliefs. You are now interpreting AND creating your life through this belief.

Here's the belief I had to do some work on...

"I don't belong anywhere."

Now I could spend time talking about this. That means dissecting why I believe this, where it came from, and so on.

But looking at a belief doesn't remove it. It's like acknowledging there are weeds in the garden, talking about them, asking if others see them, finding out why they are there, etc. BUT NEVER ACTUALLY PULLING IT!

How did I pull this weed? How did I plant a new root?

Please don't' get me wrong, there are no steps here. And this process is 100% dependent on YOU.

For me, I had to see it. Then I had to talk about it. Then I did some meditation, with support, and asked my higher self what purpose it served? Then I listened to my gut...

Here's the fun part...

A negative belief is a lesson in disguise. It's a part of you that got sent into the shadows (more on this another day!) Learn from it and it evolves. This is what it means to transcend!

This is key - it doesn't go away. It morphs from dark to light. It fills in this small gap in you that's missing.

My belief went from - I don't belong anywhere.

To...

I belong everywhere as long as I travel with heart.

Now I have to do the work. Once you change a belief give the new one time to grow. New seedlings don't sprout overnight. They take nourishment and care.

It's a daily practice to allow this new belief to be true. We're talking about a belief that's been in my life since I was a kid! So be patient and kind to yourself in this process.

This is a recent belief change, but I can share what FRUIT has already come from it.

  • I got to give a wonderful talk to a group of entrepreneurial women and share in my work with zero shame.
  • I was invited to co-train with a coaching academy.
  • I can talk about my work and my spiritual practices with my family openly and honestly.

Will this lead to more money, more joy, more balance, etc? Of course! It can't not. And never underestimate this simple truth - peace of mind is worth more than we can quantify.

Happy Holidays & Many Blessings, Andrea

Your Roots ARE Your Fruits
Fruits and Roots Andrea Leda

I want to share an incredible story today about a woman I get to call a client. She inspires me every single week.

Not just because she shows up and does the work but because she reminds me what is possible when we dig into the depths of who we are…and open a new door.

Before I get to her story let’s talk about this a little - What does it mean to dig into our depths?

First, here’s a little myth I had to learn the hard way. Changing something that’s going wrong in your life isn’t about simply closing the gap.

But you’ve been taught this, right?

Me too. In fact I think this definition of change is even in the International Coach Federation’s description of coaching. Something to this effect – success ishelping you close the gap between where you are and where you desire to be.

Here’s the thing – change isn’t horizontal. It’s vertical. Let me explain.

Closing the gap is external. For example – trying a new strategy for growing your business or building a new plan for staying healthy. These are two things outside of you.

Now I agree that change can occur here. You can alter how you do something and experience a different result.

But I don’t think you want to merely alter something. I think you’re ready to experience a transformation in your life.

This might be a stretch but think about it – why do we hire a therapist? Work with a coach? Attend a life-changing conference? Read the trendy self-help books? Take classes on meditation and prayer? Build in rituals?

We don’t embark on these things to alter single habits like eating chocolate or fighting with our spouse.

We embark on these because we’re searching for an easier, more fulfilling, and peaceful way to live our life.

This isn’t a minor change – it’s a calling from the Self and the Soul to dramatically shift how we do life!

Something that radically shifts how you see yourself and the world, which creates, not just a new result, a whole new way of living.

Transformation is vertical. Transformation requires you to go into the depths of who you are and ask questions like:

What does ‘playing big’ mean to me?

What great impact am I here to create?

What self-limiting stories are on repeat?

What does total fulfillment look and feel like?

What is so compelling about the way I live my life?

What scares me?

What inspires me?

Even if you answer one question – answer it.

If you do this I can promise you that you’ll discover a glimpse of your depth - the things that make you, you.

I call this depth your roots. And this I know for sure -

FRUITS AND ROOTS

The Roots you plant are the Fruits you reap. Most of us begin doing change work on the Fruits - we employ new strategies for more money, happier partnerships, more successful businesses, motivation and fulfillment.

But what's possible if you dug, just a little, into your roots?

Imagine what it would it feel like to be able to totally surrender…to be able to slow down, breath, and create a life that is meaningful and deeply satisfying...

Imagine if you could create a business from peace of mind and not begin with burn our or marketing strategies...

Imagine totally trusting that money flows to you...

This happens in your roots.

Here is what I believe to be true with the entire essence of my being and every fiber in my body -  Change your root, shift what you plant, and you’ll never have to struggle with the details again.

Big promise, I know.

Let me share this story now about a client. I’ll call her Lisa. Lisa is like so many women – her story is significant because it demonstrates the power in going into our roots.

Lisa came to me just before the first leaf fell this fall wanting to radically grow her business.

Lisa is a healer and a recovery coach. She is a single mom with two awesome children. She loves her work and is in her purpose lane. Success wasn’t new for her but she was in a rut. She felt something big was on the horizon…but how to get there?

I describe Lisa as on-purpose, intuitive, and curious. She's a go-getter, hard-working, independent, and intelligent. Lisa is an empath, a nurturer, and searching for something bigger than her.

She had talked to several other coaches about strategy and goals for making some big changes in the coming months.

Then she came to me. Here’s the thing – I don’t do strategy.

In our first two hours together I shared with her that no strategy or goal would compensate for a story that was no longer serving her.

This story was one of her roots and she was seeing the fruits of this every day.

The old root story: “It’s not safe to be on my own.”

This story may be so simple. But as we peeled back the layers she discovered how this story was not allowing her to be the incredible recovery coach and business owner she could be. It was keeping her business from thriving and ultimately her life from ease.

We never talked about action steps. We never coached around new ideas. We never discussed growth tactics.

We let go of the story and wrote a different one.She planted a new root. And then something that even surprised me happened.

She organically and effortlessly grew her business…

  • Lisa’s revenue increased by 400% in less than 90 days.
  • Her transformative coaching program received plenty of applicant’s and she had to turn people away.
  • She ended a toxic relationship safely and confidently.
  • She de-cluttered her entire home, painted furniture, and made her space a place that inspired her for the first time in her life.

The most remarkable part - She now practices the art of surrender and allowing everyday. She is at peace.

Here’s the magical part – we never talked about strategies for any of her new success. She created this 100% on her own because we planted a new root!

Her new root grew into fruits of money, collaboration, peace, and safety.

I’ve never met a single human being who doesn’t have a story that isn’t interfering with the greatest and grandest version of their life. A root that is not producing the kind of fruit you want -

If you want better relationships, more money, better health, successful business, happiness....Then let's dive into your stories, beliefs, habits, purpose, fear, and self-worth.

Most of us try pruning the tree when we need to have a look at what we’ve planted. What if you could create the kind of results Lisa did with one story, one root?

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Thank you
Thank you

What makes gratitude so great? I think it's that in gratitude there can't be fear. I know for me that when I am expressing gratitude and feeling grateful all the things that cause me worry get really quiet. Even if just for that moment. I am reading a book that has been sitting on my shelf since 2011. It's titled, "The Soul of Money" and the author, Lynne Twist, has put on paper the most magnificent perspective on having enough. I highly recommend you read it.

Although this is a book about our relationship to money it's more a book about gratitude. She says that in our search for 'worth' we tend to find ourselves in the land of 'want'. But what if, she supposes, we are enough already?

Gratitude is the way to enough and sufficiency.

The moral of her book is such beautiful timing for me. As I come to the close of 2015 and the year that I coined the year of 'Faith' I can't help but be grateful for what's unfolded. This year I took many leaps of faith in my work and in my life. The greatest leap of them all was a surrender of sorts.

We can't know what's ahead of us. Yes, we can plan, and we can make pretty good guesses about what's to come. But really, we have no clue! If you had told me one year ago that in the months up ahead I would coach more than 30 people, host a life-changing retreat, partner with a coaching company, and 'come out' as a spiritual leader I would have give you a face that looked like, 'That's ridiculous!'

And yet..this is what my year had in store for me.

And while I do spend part of my time setting goals and dreaming up the future I am also in this place of doing what brings me joy everyday. Feeling like I have enough and am doing enough is bringing me so much immediate joy. And it's from that place of joy that more of it can unfold.

Of course there are days when things just don't go as planned. But isn't that the whole point? Most of all, I am grateful that this year has taught me what it means to show up and let go.

I've made a commitment to doing this work and to find that place of resonance in me that feels so good I know I am on the right track. And then I let go of how it shows up. I am learning that the most incredible experiences are birthed from that place.

What would happen if you let go? What is ready to come through your life?

Thank you for being here, for reading, and for following your own journey! Happy Thanks-giving.

Much love, Andrea

I recently re-found this photo from exactly one year ago. This photo is for each and every one of you.

I find it's wayyy(yyyyy) too easy to fold our greatness behind us and only share a little about what magic we're bringing to the world.

Well. #yourekindofabigdeal

I am growing my practice. In doing so I get to serve more people. Like you! Who I believe are showing up with something SO needed in the world.

Like flow, success, power, joy, and visions coming to life.

Whether you sit with people and help them strategize or heal them from afar you are SERVING their greatest good for the greater good of all.

As I said to my coach, Michael Knouse recently, "We have the best job in the world!"

To which he replied, "Oh yes we do !"

Which really got my thinking - WE know how great our work is and the people we SERVE also know...so then why aren't more intuitive & visionary entrepreneur's talking up their work??

Take my dear friend and colleague, Rachel Eva. Rachel founded Integrative Wellness Institute because she has this awesome vision that healers will rise up and do the work as a collective.

Or my friend, Toku. Toku founded Unexcutive.com and has this empowered vision of bringing enlightened leaders to the forefront of business.

My incredible wife, Chris...founded Aleda Fitness and has the vision that your health should only get better with age.

My mentor, Michelle Gay, who believes with her whole heart that not only are small businesses the backbone of this country that those same businesses cultivating nurturing teams helps everyone thrive. (And I agree with her!)

My Coach and firestarter Michael Knouse, founded The Startup Sessions and he envisions a world where all businesses bring their soul to the surface and work through heart.

My cousin and chef, Zachary Mazi created Lionfish Supper Club because he has a vision to feed the soul and reconnect you with yourSelf. (not a typo)

Fellow Conscious Success Coach, MaryAnn McNulty, believes it's time to support the world changers so the world can change.

My friend and guru, Riley Temple, who is one of the oldest soul's I've ever met and who see's honoring our experiences as the gateway to connection.

My fellow empowerment visionary, Jennifer Alyse who sees herself as a conduit for helping women to own their power and bring the intuitive age full circle.

And my new friend, Anabell Roberts, who sees life as a beautiful way back to the truest self.

I could keep going. I can sing the praises of purpose all day long. Because it's utterly amazing to me that we live in a time where we might actually have a chance to make world-wide change snow-ball.

As you start each day thinking about those you're going to reach who you haven't met yet and those you'll continue to serve...what do YOU need?

You. The one behind the business.

The heart that shows up everyday.

What are you ready to really share with the world?

I'll go first.

I believe there's a movement happening greater than we could ever express with words. I feel it in my bones and I will champion it all the days of my life.

My clients and students know they are meant to create something in this world that is greater than them.

My role is to help them see and clear any and all interference so what's left over is an allowance of their highest good to persevere and serve the world.

Your turn! Please go out and share with 5 people the magic you're here to create.

And today as you go out and do your thing remember:

#yourekindofabigdeal

Much love,

Peace of I,

Andrea

How do you 'uplevel' and not fall down?
2015-08-07_1438970708
2015-08-07_1438970708

What does it mean to 'uplevel'? Yes, I'm aware that it's technically not word. But let's go with it. First, a short story. It's been a very interesting, inspiring, and challenging 2 months around here. I completed a program that radically changed how I do my work, I deliberately stopped marketing online, and I've re-connected with my community and started a whole new one.

It's been a challenge because I had to do something I rarely do...set boundaries! Eek! I define a boundary as that congruent place in you that meets the world. The part of you that knows, "This is who I am." <--period.

My boundaries are made up of my values, my worth, and the direction I'm going.

As soon as I decided to stand still and own my worth and my work my boundaries got pushed in ways I couldn't have prepared for. I'm still deciphering why this happens but in fairness I was warned by one of my teachers and mentors.

When you decide to 'uplevel' your life and work by playing big, going for it, owning your worth, and doing what few believe is possible unfortunately the backlash can look like this:

  • Friends bring their doubt parade to your front door
  • Colleagues warn you you're going to crash and burn
  • Your inner-gremlins throw one hell of a party on behalf of 'staying small'.

I share this with you because A) I think you are a world-changer here to do purposeful and powerful work for the benefit of others. B) You want to become the 'absolute grandest version of your best life' as my mentor Dax Moy likes to say.

What's worse is when we let the doubt and naysayers creep in. They feed on our worst fears. At least they did for me.

And it wasn't the people themselves but the fact that if a boundary being pushed made me sad, angry, frustrated and so on I knew this - there was something in their words and actions I had yet to reconcile with myself. In other words a part of me in there somewhere believed them! Bleh.

So, what can you do? How do you be BOLD in spite of your boundaries getting pushed, big time? I asked my Women's Mastermind group this question a couple weeks back. Here's what they shared with me and I LOVED it...

Dive in anyways.

Yup. They told me to dive in anyways. My dear friend Jennifer Alyse even said, "I think the thing that scares you also inspires you. It's that rush of diving off the high-board. It's terrifying and the thrill on the way down is ah-inspiring at the same time." (Thank you Jennifer!)

I took this to mean that the boundary pushing and the part of me that was starting to believe the naysayers was really just afraid of the ride.

Because I can say this with certainty (which I can't say of many things) - the thing you're meant to do, the great calling you need to answer, that piece of your soul that is looking for it's path here on Earth...it is going to get it's butt kicked. Sorry, but it is! Because this path means more.

How do you uplevel? By upleveling and diving in. So I dove in! And you know what? It isn't as scary as I imagined. It actually feels like home.

Gut check.
gut check by andrea leda
gut check by andrea leda

Why hello there. It's been a little bit since I've poured my thoughts onto this canvas here. Truth: I've been journaling, traveling, and having the best conversations because I needed a little soul love. Well, I'm back. And things are going to be a bit different from here on out. I love coming full circle. It happens to me a lot actually. Do you ever find that the thing you loved and moved away from (ie. work, hobbies, style, books, topics, etc.) you inevitably find a way to bring back into your life? Well I do this. A lot.

Let's call it a 'gut check.' It's that moment when you say to yourself, or awkwardly out loud, "Oh. I get it now." And that moment is a bit of a relief because I can finally surrender my hard search for what was within me all along. Doh.

And still I LOVE this because when the circle connects again and I return 'home' in my life I come back to myself with tons of experience, more wisdom, beautiful people, and belief in what's possible.

I've had a whirlwind of a year. Ever have those? But really, it's been a whirlwind of six years. You see, six years ago I turned down graduate school for the second time and decided to leave a blank path of possibility in my future. Good idea? I'm not sure.

School was my safety net. It was my path to career and worth. It was where someone else was going to tell me what I was meant to do and how. I turned it down because...my gut told me to.

Fast forward six years. I won't bore you with the details so here's a fun summary - there have been 5 business's, 3 not so successful, 2 incredibly successful, many blogs, many more blog posts, hundreds of books, and thousands of journal pages all in an attempt to answer these questions: Why am I here? What am I meant to do?

Have you ever asked these? Have you ever answered them?! If you have, tell me what you've discovered!

Well it's taken me 2,190 days to come up with this - I'm meant to listen and connect to people.

Were you expecting more? Me too, which is why it's taken me so long to trust my gut that this is simply who I am!

Now I'm hungry to just do the work. Yes, just do the work. Because it's so simple.

What are you hungry for? What is calling to you? What is asking more of you than you know how to be? Where are you ready to expand?

For me it's inviting motivated, driven, and visionary women entrepreneurs to work with me. Why? Because (and I think you'll agree with me):

  • You're answering your calling
  • You have a greater WHY than yourself
  • You have a vision, mission, and message to impart in the world
  • You are driven and inspired
  • You want to achieve mastery and significance

I could keep going. It came down to this - you are going to show up, do the work, and get out of your own way. For this I thank you. The world needs you. You still have hope that making a difference is a viable way to spend your time and energy. Me too.

I recently read through this list: 100 Women in Wellness to Watch

As I read through I realized these women are on this list because they are DARING to BE, DO, and REACH something greater than themselves. Doesn't this inspire you? Maybe one of these women is you! Or will be. Or you want it to be.

"At any given moment, you have the power to say: This is not how the story is going to end."

- Christine Mason Miller

IF you do THEN I want to be the woman in your corner supporting you in making this possible. No one breaks barriers or re-writes her-story alone. It requires connection, conversation, validation, being challenged, accountability, inspiration, and good ol' fashioned love from someone who believes in YOU.

Don't spend six years as I did. Take a gut check. Then dive in. Because deciding to take the world by storm is Step 0. Step 1? Take action.

Trust your gut,

Andrea

What does it really mean to 'play big'?
What does it mean to play big
What does it mean to play big

This month has been full of incredible conversations with entrepreneurs and business visionaries. Last week's post on bringing more love into your work was by far the most talked about - thank you for reading and sharing! Today we wrap up Conscious Living for Mindful Entrepreneurs month by talking about what it really means to 'play big'.  Also - if you missed last week's free call I've included the recording at the end of this article - please enjoy! It was a powerful hour and I'm so grateful to each of you who showed up.

I must give credit to the term 'play big' to Tara Mohr. Her most recent book helps women, specifically, peel back what it means to play big in their lives and work. Man or woman, I highly recommend this book.

I bring this to your attention as we wrap up this mindful month because it's an excellent question. Whether you're aware of it or not, as an entrepreneur the name of the game is 'play big.' Right? What if 'Playing Big' was not at all what you thought it would be? Let me explain...

What if playing big didn't mean trying to be larger than life but actually meant answering the call?

We are called to do something big here on Earth. The call is built into your DNA and there comes a time in your life when it rings you up. It grabs your attention after which you're never the same. Let me share a little about how the call works.

It isn't always the most obvious. It might be a subtle sensation in the pit of your stomach that tells you it's time to take a leap. That leap could be a million things - quit your job, move across the country, be a parent, volunteer, even question your beliefs. Once you get the call doubt inevitably follows. And a if you're brave to turn toward this doubt you'll find faith.

Although you have faith on your side you also have fear. That fear says things like,

"Why me?"

"How?"

"Will I be taken care of?"

"What if this doesn't work out?"

If you've ever found yourself in the midst of a call you know exactly what I'm talking about. Answering your call requires faith and unwavering belief in possibility.

When I answered my call I felt like I was wandering around in the dark for months with no clear path to take me back into my comfort zone. I was patient because although I was uncertain I knew I was heading toward something greater than I could possibly imagine. And this was well worth being patient for. What I didn't know at the time was this was the biggest I had ever played in my life. All I could do was tune in and trust.

What does this have to do with Mindful Entrepreneurship? Everything. What if you're ignoring your call? What if you're working with passion but not purpose? Who we are in life is who we are in business. Spending your energy ignoring what you're called to do is an invitation to play small in your life. And you're entrepreneur to play big!

For those who know their calling - if it's got your attention and you aren't sure what comes next I want to gift you something I wish someone had shared with me. What happens after you answer your call?

Things fall into place

They may not at first and you will need to stay open and ready but things will start to find their flow. A kind of rhythm that never exhausts you. It keeps on fueling you.

Opportunities reveal themselves

Remember this - all of life is a 'do with' process meaning you still have to show up and take action. Opportunities will start to reveal themselves. So many that you will get to choose where you want to show up. You can ask for what you need and know that your need will be met if you recognize it and lean into it.

Your heart fills up

Get ready to work with so much love! Love for those you serve, love for the work you create, and love for the whole process. Don't be surprised if you wake up every morning with gratitude brimming over your heart. It can be overwhelming in the best sense of the word.

Money is abundant

I need to preface this by saying that money isn't going to fall from the sky but opportunities will. Those opportunities  will lead to abundance if you allow them. If you aren't answering your call because you are worried there won't be enough money remember this: you can not live your purpose and be poor. It isn't how the universe works. You are only truly poor when you choose to ignore your calling and the work you do instead never feels like it provides enough. And you're right, it won't.

You serve your highest possible reason for being here

Period. There is no greater gift you can give the world than to answer your call.

I don't know much for sure but this I know...life is short AND full. Don't waste a moment of this precious opportunity not doing the things that light you up and help you see how incredible this place actually is.

THANK YOU for joining me for this inspired month. I've loved every word I got to write here and all the conversations that have happened as a result. Again if you missed last week's free call on Conscious Living for Mindful Entrepreneurs then listen to it here:

The best kept secret to life
BEST KEPT SECRET TO LIFE
BEST KEPT SECRET TO LIFE

People come to work with me for 3 BIG reasons - they want more of something in their life. They want more fulfillment, more groundedness (not technically a word, but you want more of it right?), and more joy. Some want ALL 3. Don't you want more of these things in your life? Well...there's a secret to achieving these. Before I tell you what it is I want to share a story with you.

I want to introduce you to someone dear to me - we'll call her Ally - and I'm willing to bet you have something major in common with her.

She, like so many, was simply unfulfilled. She wasn't unhappy, she just wasn't living the life she'd imagined for herself. She had a good job, it wasn't her dream job but it paid the bills and she didn't have to worry. She had nice hobbies and spent enough time taking care of her health. She was in a healthy relationship. She felt it was a bit predictable but she felt loved and needed and they still made one another laugh. She had a few goals and some dreams but wasn't acting on any of them. She called herself content.

Ally came to me because she was curious. She asked in our first meeting - "Am I missing something? I have so much good stuff in my life and yet I'm not thrilled or invested in it the way I crave to be."

"What is it you crave?", I asked her.

"Inspiration. Excitement. Growth. Purpose."

"What makes you think your life as it is can't provide these things?", I continued.

"Because...if I took more risks, traveled, maybe wrote a book, moved to a new city, had more adventure, brought my passions to life...then I'd be inspired, excited, growing, and on purpose."

"There's just one teeny, tiny, detail you missed...", I commented.

"What's that?"

"You can DO more, TRY more, EXPLORE more, and GO to new places. But remember, YOU have to bring yourself along."

"Ok...what do you mean?"

"Inspiration, excitement, growth, and purpose aren't out there...they're IN here. They are within the eye of the beholder. If you want fulfillment and joy every day choose to see, feel, expect, believe, trust, and be fulfilled and joyful everyday.

"How do I just choose these things without changing anything in my life?"

"Well...you're choosing right now for your life to not mean these things. It's no different. It's just a different choice."

You must stop trying to change what you are getting for yourself and go to work on changing what you are giving to yourself.

- Guy Finley, The Secret of Letting Go

Put more simply - the best kept secret to life is this: Stop doing and start BEING.

A flower is just a flower. You get to DECIDE if it's worth stopping to admire and smell or if you keep walking. How you do anything is how you do everything. If you don't stop and smell the flowers you won't stop and admire your success or enjoy an incredible meal or stop and soak up the sunshine.

All our unhappiness lies hidden in our ideas about who we are and how life should treat us.

How do you treat life? Life shows you incredible things everyday. Strangers smiling as you pass on the street. Fresh rain. A great cup of tea. Your child's laugh. You can't create these experiences, all you can do is acknowledge them. Is your life a means to get to the next venture or is your life THE venture? The beautiful thing is, you get to choose.

It isn't what you do that creates joy, it's who you are that allows joy into your life.

If you see an ugly world it's because you believe the world is ugly. If you see a beautiful world it's because you believe the world is beautiful. Like these ideas but want even more? Listen to my most recent call - The Power of your Unconscious Mind and download the journal prompts to go with.

Your perspective doesn't simply form an opinion about your life and the world around you - your perspective creates it.What are you building?

The 3 Illusions You Live By
THE-THREE-ILLUSIONS.jpeg

three illusions of humanityThe love I have for my work comes from one thing - helping you to expand your perspective on your life so that change is not only plausible it's inspired. Are you inspired by your life? An inspired life is not euphoria in the sense that there are no problems or fears. Inspired living is one of present joy and self-introspection. Are you willing to lift the veil and really sit with your life?

Today I offer the 3 illusions of humanity that will help you see the veil you live behind. Unfortunately many of us don't only miss the illusions we live our life through them. What this means is you think they're real and then you manifest the very things you're trying to avoid.

"We gradually become a vehicle for connecting others with their unfettered mind, with their intrinsic goodness, so they, too, can begin to embrace the groundlessness of being human as a source of inspiration and joy." - Pema Chodron, Living Beautifully

Life is groundless. Meaning it's not as certain as we would like. This is nothing to fear! Yet you do. The 3 illusions I offer you today feed this.

For each illusion I offer a truth. I invite you to observe your life this week - where do you feed an illusion and can you let the truth in? Many people fight to keep the illusion alive. You might defend these 3 things because they've been told, taught, and modeled for you most of your life. They protect your ego. You have the ability to transcend them.

Illusion #1: Fear

What is fear? Fear is the anticipation of threat. Threat is the probability of death. When you fear something what you really fear is dying. At our most primitive level this is how we function and you are not conscious of it.

Survival is an unconscious action because thinking about survival simply takes too long. Our more evolved brain is just too slow for survival instincts which is why it’s a good thing our primitive brain takes care of that. Unfortunately this brain overrides everything else and it’s quite sensitive.

To learn more about the mechanics of threat read this article here.

How is fear an illusion? It’s an illusion because fear is a state of anticipation not actualization. It is something you ponder but don’t actually experience. When fear is realized because you find yourself in a situation where threat is present, you don’t fear it, you move through it. You flee, you fight, you hide, or you surrender – all of which you won’t have any control over.

The most common fears you live your life to avoid are scarcity of money, food, or shelter and the loss of loved ones or disconnection from your tribe or community. As you'll learn in a moment these are also illusions.

How many times have your worst fears come to life? Did you survive? Of course you did – because you’re reading this right now. Threat is not avoidable but it is nothing to fear. Either a threat is present or it is not.

The illusion: Fear

The truth: Assurance

Illusion #2: Scarcity

Scarcity is the illusion of not having enough. Also part of our survival brain – think lack or attack. You believe you don’t have enough of something or you think something is a threat to your survival.

On a less primitive level we are more evolved and understand there is enough of everything but do you really know this? If you’re afraid of having enough money, time, or resources then you are living through a scarcity mindset.

I will let you in on a BIG secret the most successful people live their life by – there is more than enough to go around. I am using the term successful to mean more than wealth. Success is abundance of joy, time, and love.

Scarcity on the surface is a fear of not having enough. Dig a little deeper and you’ll find that scarcity is really a fear of not being worthy enough.

Poor self-worth permeates our culture. A feeling that you don’t have enough, aren’t good enough, aren’t smart enough, aren’t prepared enough are all factors of worthiness. You are worthy because you exist and do not need to do anything to prove your worth.

I guarantee you this – we have absolutely enough of anything you could possibly want or need. Biology does not make mistakes. Maybe at this very moment you don't have enough, this is not a truth that it doesn’t exist, it’s a truth that your mind won’t allow it to. Broke is a state of mind – not circumstance.

“All great spiritual masters are teaching what we’re talking about. They’re teaching forgiveness. They’re teaching kindness. They’re teaching love. They’re not teaching wanting. They’re not teaching greed.” – Dr. Wayne Dyer

This is an abundant universe. Don’t ask, allow.

The illusion: Scarcity

The truth: Abundance

 Illusion #3: Separateness

Separateness is the illusion that we are not connected and on our own. We are not meant to be alone. In fact you are hardwired for connection. It’s in your biology. It’s also in the matrix. Think of all that is, all that exists, that which you can see and that which you cannot see as being part of one ocean. Can you separate the ocean?

Everything you do affects the whole, including your thoughts. If you haven’t seen this I highly suggest taking a peek.

If by definition we are all connected then you are the other and the other is you. What you do, think, present, judge, critique, or love in another is what you think, present, judge, critique, and love in yourself.

“Loving people live in a loving world. Hostile people live in a hostile world. Same world.” ― Dr. Wayne Dyer

The illusion: Separateness

The truth: All are one

Which illusion has become the default lens for your life? Which truth are you inspired to try on?

In light and love,

Andrea
