NEW: Soul Seeker Inner Circle (It's free!)
soul-seeker-inner-circle
soul-seeker-inner-circle

You guys, I am so excited to announce my newest online space - the Soul Seeker Inner Circle! I used to stress out so much about my emails. What should I write? How many people will actually read it and how many will leave? Is this even helpful? And still, week after week I am so drawn to write. I love it. But I wasn't in love with my writing space. So...I changed it. (You're allowed to do that) I wanted to LOVE opening my email campaigns, love working on them, and pour more intention into what I created for my readers. I sent out a survey and the results really did surprise me. You want more self-development and purpose. You want more articles and more resources. Well, I can do that.

I created the Soul Seeker Inner Circle.A place for guidance, support, insight, community, and a behind-the-scenes of my own process. You will get more about voice, playing big, the fear gremlins, success, fulfillment, connection, and purpose.

Every month I'll send my best ideas, insights, and support to your inbox to help you live on purpose, create fulfillment, and a life that matters. Join your community (it’s free!) and welcome to the life of a soul seeker.

EACH MONTH YOU’LL GET:

  • Articles I pour my heart and truth into – I write about purpose, answering your calling, money, connection, using your voice, being a leader, and help you to do the inner work.
  • Journal prompts and workbooks – I love journal writing! It is a very dear practice of mine. Every week you’ll get a journal prompt and sometimes I’ll send you a digital journal workbook to help you dive into your process even more.
  • Quotes I’m gushing over – Quotes are the best. They so quickly get to the heart of the matter. I will share my favorites every week to help inspire you and get you asking better questions of your life and purpose.
  • Purple Room Book Club – I am a book lover and each month I’ll share my 2-3 favorites I am currently indulging in.
  • Inner Circle Exclusive Offers – Be the first to know about Awaken Your Practice and exclusive virtual events and coaching calls.
  • Fun Giveaways – Journals, books, workbooks, I have plenty to share!

10 Journal Prompts for Changing Your Story
CHANGE-YOUR-STORY.jpeg

10 Journal Prompts for Changing Your StoryIf you couldn't tell by now - I throughly enjoy journal writing. My journals have been such companions over the years. They give me space to get clear or understand things in my life in a new way. They are a wonderful listening ear when I need to vent or process something. They are also my best dream keepers and goal setters. Before I launch an idea or create anything new in my life I write it out in my journal first. A huge part of living a conscious life is using the power of intention and self-awareness to wake up and create positive change in your life. Your journal is your best companion for this. Today I want to share 10 Prompts that can help you change your story.

What's your story?

Your story is your life. Your story can also be, unfortunately, a predictor of your future. I say 'can' because it doesn't have to be. If you want your future to hold something different for you then you have to stop using your past as a guide. Today's journal prompts will help you reframe the things you wish to change in your life so that a new outcome is possible.

Why does reframing work?

Think of anything you wish to be different in your life. For example, your health, your finances, a relationship, even a habit you want to quit. That thing you want to change is the byproduct of your current beliefs, emotions, thoughts, and memories. Until we change those these things can't change because they are being filtered through a lens that is totally unconscious. (If you want to understand how this works and how to use your unconscious experiences to your advantage RSVP for this free call here!)

10 Journal Prompts to Change your Story

Bring the specific thing to mind you wish to change or have be different in the future. It's important that you get specific because otherwise you're working with a general idea and that is way too big for your brain to tackle and yield the specific outcome you want.

Write WHAT you want to change at the top of your blank journal page. Then use the following 10 prompts and work with what you want to change. Note: each question builds on the one before it. Take the answer to question 1 and use it for question 2 and so on...

  1. How's that a problem?
  2. And how's that a problem?
  3. What do you want in place of this?
  4. What is the intention for that?
  5. For what purpose?
  6. How will that make you feel?
  7. What is the intention for that?
  8. This means that what you really want is...
  9. How will you know when you've achieved this?
  10. What will you do differently moving forward?

IF you followed this process from #1-10 what you have at the end is a pro-active solution to your what you want to change instead of a focus on what you wish were different. This is a powerful tool because it gives you the path every single time.

Try it for more than one area in your life. You will find that the solution in the end is similar for many of the changes you wish to make in your life. The thing you're trying to change has a higher purpose like security, acceptance, freedom, certainty, etc. Make this your focus and watch change unfold.

In light, love, and journal writing,

Andrea

Weekly Journal Prompt: I am worthy
WEEKLY-JOURNAL-PROMPT-I-AM-WORTHY.jpeg

Journal Prompt of the Week I am worthyEach week I gift a Weekly Journal Prompt for you to try on in your journal. As a part of my quest to help you be inspired by keeping a journal, I want to be your guide. You can see and write from all Weekly Journal Prompts here. Thanks for joining in!

This week over on the blog we're talking about worthiness. I wrote an article yesterday about the self-worth hustle and how to know when you're in the middle of one. Friday I'll send out the next Guidepost in the series by Brene Brown, Cultivate Play and Rest – Let go of exhaustion as a status symbol and productivity as self-worth.

I have a different kind of prompt for you today. Self-worth is inherit. You are worthy because you exist. Do you know this? Most of us really don't live this. I invite you to try it on today. Write this in your journal...over and over...for the full 10 minutes.

I am worthy.

Tune in to your self. How does it feel? Do you fight it a little? Does it wash over you and make you feel good? Just be with whatever comes up.

In light and love,

Andrea

Weekly Journal Prompt: If I could tell my younger self anything...
NOTES-FOR-MY-YOUNGER-SELF.jpeg

Journal prompt of the week notes for my younger selfEach week I gift a Weekly Journal Prompt for you to try on in your journal. As a part of my quest to help you be inspired by keeping a journal, I want to be your guide. You can see and write from all Weekly Journal Prompts here. Thanks for joining in!

This week's journal prompt is about learning from our life lessons. We've all thought, "If I knew then what I know now..." But the beauty is, it's not too late to use your hindsight! Life is a revolving door of unresolved stuff.

Have you ever wondered why you attract the same people to your life? Why you seem to get stuck in you debt? Why every time you book a vacation something comes up and you have to cancel? It's no accident. It's your life lessons in motion.

Today I want you to journal this prompt and see if you can't bring some foresight to your life.

If I could tell my younger self anything it would be...

Place 10 minutes on a timer and put pen to paper. Let yourself really explore. If you inner-critic hops into the conversation kindly ask her to step aside and invite your inner-wise self or higher self to your journal page.

In light and love,

Andrea

Weekly Journal Prompt: Your Calling
JOURNAL-PROMPT-OF-THE-WEEK-WHATS-YOUR-CALLING.jpeg

Journal Prompt of the Week Your CallingEach week I gift a Weekly Journal Prompt for you to try on in your journal. As a part of my quest to help you be inspired by keeping a journal, I want to be your guide. You can see and write from all Weekly Journal Prompts here. Thanks for joining in!

Today's Weekly Journal Prompt is from a new book, "Playing Big" by Tara Mohr. I must of had at least 5 different women recommend this book to me. I finally picked up a copy and loved it. Tara doesn't talk about Playing Big as being loud or audacious but of living into your strengths and most fulfilled self.

Today's prompt is from the book and it's all about listening to what's calling you right now. Write this prompt at the top of a new page:

What is calling me right now?

Place 10 minutes on a timer and put pen to paper. Let yourself really explore. If you inner-critic hops into the conversation kindly ask her to step aside and invite your inner-wise self or higher self to your journal page.

Andrea

Weekly Journal Prompt: The Sacred Self
journal-prompt-of-the-week-sacred-self.jpeg

Journal Prompt of the Week the sacred selfEach week I gift a Weekly Journal Prompt for you to try on in your journal. As a part of my quest to help you be inspired by keeping a journal, I want to be your guide. You can see and write from all Weekly Journal Prompts here. Thanks for joining in!

I'm continuing a little with our theme from last week of ritual, self-care practices, and self-compassion. Today's journal prompt of the week is all about The Sacred Self.

Your sacred self is your spirit or soul. That life-force energy that can not be created nor destroyed and comes here to grow and evolve. You can honor your sacred self by inviting in and listening to your Higher-Self, your Intuition, and your Heart.

"You have to grow from the inside out. No one can teach you, no one can make you spiritual. There is no other teacher but your own soul." - Swami Vivekananda

My Sacred Self journal prompt is about practicing the language of the sacred self - gratitude, kindness, and patience. Put 10 minutes on a timer and write the following prompt on the top of a new page.

I practice gratitude, kindness, and patience when I...

In light and love,

Andrea

Weekly Journal Prompt: Practices & Rituals
journal-prompt-of-the-week-rituals.jpeg

Weekly Journal Prompt practices and ritualsEach week I gift a Weekly Journal Prompt for you to try on in your journal. As a part of my quest to help you be inspired by keeping a journal, I want to be your guide. You can see and write from all Weekly Journal Prompts here. Thanks for joining in!

Today's journal prompt of the week is all about rituals and practices. The word 'practice' is my favorite word right now. It is so permission granting. I think so much of us can focus too much on achieving the end goal or gaining mastery that we really don't slow down and enjoy the process. Process is a practice and I invite you to use your journal today to help build your own.

A practice can be something you do everyday like journaling, prayer, or yoga. It can be something you intend to do as it comes up like vulnerability, difficult conversations, or mindfulness. For a better understanding of the importance of ritual and some ideas read here.

In your journal try on this sentence: The practice I want to cultivate is...

You just might be surprised what kind of practice you really need right now. Set a timer for 10 minutes, place pen to paper, and let yourself flow.

In light and love,

Andrea

Weekly Journal Prompt: I am grateful for...
Journal-prompt-of-the-week-I-am-grateful-for.jpeg

Weekly Journal Prompt I am grateful forEach week I gift a Weekly Journal Prompt for you to try on in your journal. As a part of my quest to help you be inspired by keeping a journal, I want to be your guide. You can see and write from all Weekly Journal Prompts here. Thanks for joining in!

I've posted this journal prompt before but it's always worth re-visiting. A gratitude practice is something worth bringing to your life if you don't already have one. It doesn't even need to be in writing.

You can take space right now to list in your mind 5 things you're grateful for. If you need help I wrote my Ultimate Gratitude List in December.

At the top of a new journal page write, "I am grateful for..." and let your gratitudes flow out of your pen. This is a particularly helpful exercise if you're not feeling to grateful right now.

I find there's always something to appreciate even in the face of adversity or stress. Don't forget to set your timer for 10 minutes!

In light and love,

Andrea

Weekly Journal Prompt
Journal-prompt-of-the-week-I-love.jpeg

Weekly Journal Prompt I loveEach week I gift a Weekly Journal Prompt for you to try on in your journal. As a part of my quest to help you be inspired by keeping a journal, I want to be your guide. You can see and write from all Weekly Journal Prompts here. Thanks for joining in!

Today's Weekly Journal Prompt is all about embracing the things you love about yourself. If you've been following my body-love mantra's then today is a practice in bringing some of that to life! If you haven't been following that's ok, you'll still get tons from this prompt.

Write "I love..." at the top of a blank page. This prompt will turn out more like a list than a flow of words. Write out everything and everyone that you love. Then take it a little further and write out what you love about those things and these people. Take that one more step further and write what you love about yourself.

That last part might be hard for some of you and that's ok. Just try it! Place 10 minutes on a timer, put pen to paper, and start writing. In love and light, Andrea

Give yourself plenty of breathing space around these topics. It's ok if you can't get totally into the prompt right away. But I encourage you to return to it. At the very least stay present with the subject and your journal for the full 10 minutes. If your mind starts to wander, follow it.

Here’s how Monthly Journal Challenge works:

1. Join Journal Love Club for FREE and your Monthly Journal Challenge will drop in your email!  (If you're already a member of Journal Love Club then this month's challenge has already been sent your way)

2. Enjoy your month of journal writing.

Thanks for participating and have fun!

In light and love, Andrea

3 Journal Techniques for Mindful Living
JOURNAL-TECHNIQUES-FOR-MINDFULNESS.jpeg

3 Journal Techniques for Mindful LivingMy journal serves many purposes in my life - it's part memory keeper, friend, advisor, and note keeper. No matter what need you pick your journal up to explore a nice part of incorporating a journal into your life is to practice mindfulness. I personally define mindfulness as being present in any given space and time. Not looking to the future or remembering the past. Not daydreaming or fantasizing, but truly being present with what is.

Although a journal can take you to far off places in your mind it can also connect you with what's here and now with just your pen and paper. Be present as words seemingly fall out your pen and share with you your inner-most beliefs, desires, and needs.

Today I will share with you THREE powerful journal techniques for practicing mindfulness. Different than a prompt, techniques can be about anything, any strain of thought or emotion. When you explore different techniques the focus is on using your journal as a vessel for trying on new ways of putting pen to paper.

My basic guidelines are still the same - use a timer and choose between 5, 10, or 12 minutes for writing. Once you put pen to paper keep it there and allow your monkey mind to mellow out and for a flow to come through. Once your timer chimes you may re-read what you wrote but refrain from editing, critiquing, or crossing things out.

Our conscious mind and subconscious mind don't always see eye-to-eye. The goal is to allow this underground voice a place to be heard.

Technique #1: Letters from your Higher-Self

In this technique you allow your higher-self or intuition space on your journal page. You may open the dialogue with a question or you may simply ask your higher-self to come through your pen. Write a letter to yourself from your higher-self. Don't be surprised if this technique flows with ease and doesn't require any strain. Stay present with your words and what your higher-self has to say to you. If you're unsure what to expect from your higher-self read this here

Technique #2: This Examined Life

This technique is very much a practice of being in the moment. Before writing take a slight pause and bring your attention to the space you're in. What do you see? What do you feel? What do you hear? How do you feel? When you go to write simply write what you observe in this exact moment. I like this technique when my monkey mind is racing or I can't seem to gather my thoughts.

Technique #3: Gratitude Float

This is a fun and easy technique when you need a little boost in your energy or your day. Gratitude is a wonderful practice and the journal is an easy place to express gratitude. Before you put pen to paper ask yourself, "What am I grateful for?" Then allow your gratitudes to float to your awareness. Your role as the scribe here is to capture them on paper. Don't stop and analyze or over think what you're grateful for. Simply be aware, listen, and write them down. Don't be surprised at what you're actually grateful for.

If you enjoyed these techniques you might also enjoy these here.

In light and love,

Andrea

Weekly Journal Prompt: Body Love
BODY-LOVE-JOURNAL-PROMPT.jpeg

Journal Prompt of the Week Body LoveEach week I gift a Weekly Journal Prompt for you to try on in your journal. As a part of my quest to help you be inspired by keeping a journal, I want to be your guide. You can see and write from all Weekly Journal Prompts here. Thanks for joining in!

Today's Journal Prompt of the week is all about self-love. Many of new start the New Year with the intention to start new habits. We want to try a new routine, new foods, or new books. All in hopes of feeling better about ourselves and our body.

I'm no different! I started the year with an intention to try Yoga as a means of connecting with my own energy body. I've also given up sugar and alcohol for the time being. I've done both these things to try and feel better in my body and with my choices.

I'm trying them because I believe they'll make me physically feel more whole. But it's important for me to remember that true wholeness comes from within. From self-acceptance and self-love.

Today use your journal to practice this. Your prompt is: What thoughts about my body am I ready to let go of?

Place 10 minutes on a timer, put pen to paper, and start writing.

In light and love,

Andrea

P.S.

15 Journal Prompts for 2015
15-JOURNAL-PROMPTS-FOR-2015.jpeg

15 PROMPTS FOR 2015Journaling in the New Year is almost too easy - I find my journal to be full of fresh inspiration and renewed energy. Even if it's rainy outside (which in Portland, OR in January...it's usually rainy) I still feel refreshed to start something new. Your journal is the perfect place to do this. Today I will share with you 15 Journal Prompts for 2015. These aren't meant to be spread out over the year. Instead use them to give your year some energy! Pick one or two that jump out at you, open your journal, and let the ideas flow.

As I pointed out here, my word for 2015 is faith. I'm not asking you to adopt this as your word but when I think about embracing more faith in my life I think about what I need to explore in order to do this. What questions can I lay to rest? What parts of myself am I ready to fully embrace? My journal is where I do this exploration.

No matter your word for 2015 - even if you don't have a word - these prompts will help you live an inspired year. I think daily inspiration can be difficult and that's a lot of pressure to put on any single day. But I do think what you intend you create.

Intention is powerful when it has two things present - belief and action. Do you believe with your heart that what you intend is authentic and possible? Do you know you are prepared to make it happen and take action toward it? So let's spend some time in our journals setting intentions.

15 Journal Prompts for 2015

1. MY INTENTIONS FOR 2015 ARE...

2. IF I KNEW IT WOULD BE A SUCCESS I  WOULD START...

3. WHAT AM I READY TO LET GO OF?

4. IF I WEREN'T AFRAID I WOULD EMBRACE...

5. THE STORY I WANT MY LIFE TO TELL IS...

6. IF I ACCEPTED MYSELF AS I AM I WOULD FEEL...

7. MY WISH FOR THIS YEAR IS...

8. IN THIS MOMENT...

9. THE LESSON I MOST WANT TO PRACTICE THIS YEAR IS...

10. MY GRANDEST VISION FOR MYSELF INCLUDES...

11. I AM READY TO FORGIVE...

12. I AM GRATEFUL FOR...

13. IF I PRACTICED SELF-LOVE I WOULD...

14. THIS YEAR IS MY YEAR TO...

15. MY WORD FOR 2015 IS...

Which prompts stand out most to you? Start there! Set your timer for 10 minutes, place pen to paper, and just let the words flow.

In light and love,

Andrea

Weekly Journal Prompt: My intentions for 2015 are...
INTENTIONS-ARE.jpeg

My intentions for 2015 areEach week I gift a Weekly Journal Prompt for you to try on in your journal. As a part of my quest to help you be inspired by keeping a journal, I want to be your guide. You can see and write from all Weekly Journal Prompts here. Thanks for joining in!

How is your new year going so far? Today here on the blog is all about getting more from your journal practice in 2015. I have 15 Journal Prompts for 2015 coming your way in about an hour. My focus this year with my journaling is to stretch my intuition and find more ways to tap into flow while writing.

One of the easiest ways to practice finding flow in your journal writing is using a prompt and using timed journaling. Today's prompt will help you do this! Your prompt is: My intentions for 2015 are...

What I love about intentions is they are more powerful than goals. I think goals are wonderful. But many go unaccomplished.

An intention, however, aligns your mind, body, and spirit. An intention helps you find wholeness in life. Intentions help you ask better questions. They help you see things differently. And they help you feel when you're not in alignment with your intention.

Set your timer for 10 minutes, place pen to paper, and let your thoughts flow.

In light and love,

Andrea

Weekly Journal Prompt: If I accepted myself...
IF-I-ACCEPTED-MYSELF-PROMPT.jpeg

This week's journal prompt of the week is about practicing self-acceptance. I'm in the middle of a wonderful book called, "Radical Acceptance" by Tara Brach, a meditation teacher and psychologist. As she points out in this book, acceptance is not passive allowance for things to happen in your life - but it is sitting back from reaction or attachment to judgment of what's happening in your life.

What would happen if you practiced self-acceptance? In your journal this week practice this and see what comes through your pen. You may even find a few words that life your spirit up which can make for beautiful mantras or daily reminders.

At the top of a fresh page write, "If I accepted myself, then..." Set your timer for 10 minutes, place pen to paper, and journal. In love and light, Andrea

Monthly Journal Challenge: January
monthly-journal-challenge.jpeg

Monthly Challenge January 2015Welcome to 2015! I have a good feeling about this year. But I probably say that every year. Last year felt like a lot of transition. Did you feel any of that? I have a feeling this year is all about taking action and moving forward. Have you planned any intentions or written goals for the year? I have mixed feelings about goal setting, however I always encourage using your journal in the beginning of the year to write your ideas and dreams down. You might be the most inspired now.

Then get to work figuring them out! This month's journal challenge has a few prompts to help you put your dreams to paper.

The challenge is free to participate in. Included each month are 12-15 writing prompts in a .pdf calendar you can download, print out, and keep in your journal or on your desk. The prompts aren't everyday but spread out over the month. Some prompts are specific to that month or season, and some are just for fun.

Here's how it works:

1. Download your calendar here - Monthly Challenge January 2015

2. Leave me a comment telling me you're in! You can also use the #monthlyjournalchallenge to share your experience.

3. Enjoy your month of journal writing.

Thanks for participating and have fun! In light and love, Andrea

2014 in Blogland - your favorites from this year
Your-favorites-from-2014.jpeg

Just like that it's a mere 11 hours until 2015. My 2014 was marked by 3 significant events I'll share more about next week. But if you had told me one year ago that by the end of 2014 I would be running my own solo coaching business again, planning to be a mother, re-devoting to my marriage, and using words like faith, God, and miracles every day I would have said...."Yeah, right!"

The truth is we never know what the future holds.

We have desires and intentions but what's to actually unfold can't be predicted. I succumb to this. I have ideas about 2015 but only time knows!

Part of saying goodbye to 2014 is looking back through and reflecting. Combing over journal entries and photos. Remembering vacations and seeing new places. The ups and the downs. My favorites things and the scary things. All of it is worth reflecting on.

Part of my own self-renewal this year was creating a brand all my own, separating from a business I co-founded, and opening a solo coaching business and blog again. I started pumping lots of energy into writing and have loved every word I've published here. More than that I'm grateful for YOU for reading, commenting, and sharing. I'm truly blessed.

Here are the top 14 posts from 2014.

May 2015 be filled with love, compassion, ambition, joy, and healthy challenges. In light &  love, Andrea

Weekly Journal Prompt: My 3 lessons from 2014...
Weekly-journal-prompt-3-lessons.jpeg

Weekly Journal Prompt My 3 LessonsEach week I gift a Weekly Journal Prompt for you to try on in your journal. As a part of my quest to help you be inspired by keeping a journal, I want to be your guide. You can see and write from all Weekly Journal Prompts here. Thanks for joining in!

This week's Journal Prompt of the Week is all about using your best lessons from 2014 to help you next year.

I could just give you some a goal setting prompt but I like to take a different approach to New Year resolutions.

If you really think about it, a resolution is about creating resolve in your life and finding a new course of action for that solution. One of the best ways to find solutions you know will work is by using what you already know.

I'll share more next week on why most New Year goal setting is unsuccessful and what you can do differently this year. For today try on this prompt in your journal.

Open your journal to a clean page and at the top write this question -

If I could go back to January of 2014 and teach myself THREE lessons for the year ahead what would they be?

Place 10 minutes on your timer and put pen to paper. I want to hear about your lessons! Leave me a comment below and share what you came up with. Mine are:

  1. Be patient and have faith in the unknown.
  2. Express gratitude and love for those who support you everyday.
  3. See the beauty in everyday life.

In light and love,

Andrea
