Last Spring I wrote a 10-part series based on one of my very favorite books, "The Gifts of Imperfection" by Brene Brown. Each week for 10 weeks I shared one guidepost from the book, a few thoughts, plus a journal prompt. To date this was by far my most popular series. I think because this book is so validating. Brene's work in shame research gave such validity to our fears of rejection and why connection is so important.

I think it's time to revisit this series. Every Friday for the next 10 weeks I will share one guidepost from the book and a few thoughts about each guidepost. Each post will include the .pdf download of each journal prompt to help you bring this book to life.

First - I encourage you to read the book in full. It's a quick but very relevant read! Although I'll be giving a synopsis of each guidepost it's important that you have a framework for what we're discussing here.

You may have seen Dr. Brene Brown’s TedTalk on The Power of Vulnerability or her three books. If not, check them out. Brene’s work is based on a 12-year research project she did on shame. What she unearthed was a population of people living what she now calls a “Wholehearted Life.” This particular group of people embraces failure, creativity, play, laughter, and self-compassion and they do so through the practice of vulnerability.

I can’t tell you how to cultivate each guidepost because it is different for everyone. Instead I will provide journal prompts that will help you find out for yourself. I will post a guidepost every Friday, starting next week!
